When it came to food, Yun Xi was naturally the most eager. She was about to suggest a restaurant when Yun Qi interrupted, pointing out that the factory was quite large and far from the city center and bustling streets. The surrounding area only had some fast-food joints, and since they were still on the clock, Yun Qi suggested, "If you all don’t mind, let’s have the employee meal together. It’s been a while since I’ve had the factory’s employee meal."
With Yun Qi saying this, the management didn’t dare object and they all flattered him in agreement.
"What if I mind?" But Yun Xi was different. Leaving aside the fact that Yun Qi was her brother, even if he wasn’t, she was one to speak her mind, never holding back her discontent or reluctance. So, she silently raised her hand, eyes tentatively looking at Yun Qi as she asked.
Yun Qi glanced sideways at her, chuckled softly, and tapped her forehead, "It doesn’t matter if you mind; as the design director of the Yun Group, you should lead by example and reign in your little tantrums from home."
"Is it still too late to resign now?"
"Go ask Dad if he agrees."
Yun Xi pouted and turned her gaze away in silence, "Fine, let’s just have the employee meal."
Yun Qi didn’t bother responding to her and instead turned to Cen Jin and Ye Lingran, apologizing, "I’m really sorry, but today might be a bit of a compromise as you’ll have to join us for the employee meal. This project has less than two months left, and we must speed up the pace to avoid falling behind."
"No need to apologize, we totally understand," Cen Jin smiled lightly, not bothered by it at all.
"Since we have the design drafts ready, everything should go smoother from here. Let’s just get through the next few days and see if we can achieve the results we want," Ye Lingran added with a slight smile, her enthusiasm for work evident.
"So it’s going to be hard work for you guys too."
"You’ve all been working together for a month now—how long are you going to keep up this awkward small talk and formal greetings? I don’t get it, is it really necessary? Aren’t we supposed to have a meeting? Hurry up and eat! Stop making it look like you three are the only diligent ones while the rest of us are just slacking off, okay?" Yun Xi pouted, genuinely exhausted by their chatter, and couldn’t even recall how many times she had grumbled, apparently to no effect.
The group headed to the employee cafeteria. Yun Qi, being a gentleman, fetched Cen Jin and Ye Lingran a tray, getting a bit of everything for them. Although it couldn’t match a luxury restaurant, the variety didn’t look bad at all.
"Thank you," Cen Jin and Ye Lingran said with a smile.
Cen Jin tasted the food and found it decent. She raised her eyebrows in satisfaction. Halfway through her meal, an appealing ringtone suddenly played from her bag. She set down her chopsticks, took out her phone, and nearly choked on her food. "Sorry, I need to take this call," she said to them.
Seeing them nod, she stood up and stepped aside to answer, "Hello?"
"You’re not at home?" Jiang Baizhou asked, perhaps having heard the noise on her end, furrowing his brows.
"No, I’m at the Yun Group’s big factory right now."
"What about this afternoon?"
"I know, I’ll be there on time."
"Huh? What do you mean?" Cen Jin was stunned for a moment and instinctively asked.
