The moment the door closed behind Bai Hanyun’s group, one of the bodyguards guarding the opposite suite pressed the communication device in his left ear.
"The target has arrived," he reported.
A second later, a cold voice came through the earpiece. "Got it. Keep an eye on them."
"Yes, Brother Ke," the man replied.
Meanwhile, inside the study of the presidential suite, Ke Ting turned to Gui Xiaoxu and said, "Boss, Miss Bai Hanyun just arrived. She is staying in the presidential suite across from ours."
Hearing this, Gui Xiaoxu paused mid-typing for a brief moment before continuing his work.
Receiving no reaction from him, Ke Ting added, "I have already arranged for our men to keep an eye on her."
After a moment of silence, Gui Xiaoxu finally responded. "Mhm. Be discreet. Don’t let her notice."
Ke Ting nodded. "Yes, Boss."
Just then, his phone rang. Ke Ting picked up the call and said, "Speak."
A second later, a man’s voice came through the speaker. "Brother Ke, we just received news that Lei Jingqian will attend the Bai Group’s banquet today."
Ke Ting’s eyes flickered slightly at the news. Glancing at Gui Xiaoxu, he asked, "Have you found out what their motive is for attending the banquet?"
The sound of typing echoed through the speaker for a few seconds before the man replied, "There is no concrete intel yet. However, according to our sources, Lei Jingqian is coming for our Boss."
Hearing that, Ke Ting’s gaze turned cold. "Understood. Keep monitoring their movements. Report to me the moment you find anything."
Just as the call ended, Gui Xiaoxu asked, "What’s wrong?"
Turning toward him, Ke Ting reported, "Boss, we have just received information that Lei Jingqian will be attending the Bai Group’s banquet today. According to the informants, their target is you."
Gui Xiaoxu stopped typing and leaned back on his chair. Tapping his index finger slowly on the mahogany table, he fell into deep thought.
After a long silence, he looked at Ke Ting and said, "Have the others leave this place."
Ke Ting frowned slightly at his words and tried to persuade him. "Boss, if you send the others away, your security—"
Gui Xiaoxu raised his hand, cutting him off. "If they stay, it will expose my identity. Just do as I say."
Ke Ting nodded. "Yes, Boss."
After Ke Ting left to make arrangements, Gui Xiaoxu looked at the blue sky through the glass floor-to-ceiling windows.
"No matter what, I must find the answer tonight."
Meanwhile, in the other presidential suite, Bai Hanyun, Jiang Yinqi, and Ruan Hanlin were in the middle of a discussion.
Sitting on the couch in the study room, Jiang Yinqi took out a document and said, "Hanyun, this is the evidence I have found so far about Bai Yansheng."
Bai Hanyun took the document and read through it. When she finished, she sneered. "Bai Yansheng really has a big appetite. After failing to seize the company, he actually transferred the assets away."
Looking at her, Jiang Yinqi asked, "This evidence is enough to put him behind bars for at least ten years. Hanyun, what do you want to do?"
Bai Hanyun placed the document on the low table and smiled. "It’s not time yet. I haven’t found any evidence linking him to Grandfather’s death. I will let him enjoy his freedom until then."
Sitting beside Jiang Yinqi, Ruan Hanlin asked with a hint of curiosity in his voice, "Eldest Young Lady, how can you be so sure that Chairman Bai’s death had something to do with Bai Yansheng?"
Bai Hanyun fell silent for a moment before turning to Jiang Yinqi. "Elder Brother Yinqi, do you remember the documents my grandfather gave me together with the inheritance document?"
Jiang Yinqi nodded. "Yes. Did you find something in them?"
"Yes," Bai Hanyun nodded and clenched her hands as she explained, "I never intended to go through those documents before. But after Bai Yansheng forced me to leave the Bai family, I left the city and decided to read them."
Her expression turned serious as she added, "Among the documents, I found an adoption agreement and a DNA test result."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yinqi’s eyes flickered when he asked, "Whose names are on those documents?"
Bai Hanyun calmly replied, "The adoption agreement has Bai Yansheng’s name, and the DNA test result is mine."
The moment her words fell, both Jiang Yinqi and Ruan Hanlin were stunned.
Looking at them, Bai Hanyun continued, "Bai Yansheng is not my grandfather’s son, but I am his biological granddaughter. That means Bai Yansheng isn’t my father. This should be the reason my grandfather left all his assets and wealth to me instead of Bai Yansheng."
After a moment of thought, Jiang Yinqi asked, "Do you know who your parents are?"
Bai Hanyun nodded, then shook her head. "I only know that my mother was Grandfather’s only daughter. As for my father, my grandfather didn’t leave any information about him. I guess even Grandfather didn’t know about him."
After listening to her explanation, Ruan Hanlin said, "No wonder Bai Yansheng, Qian Weina, and Bai Li treated you like an enemy. Turns out they are not part of the Bai family."
Jiang Yinqi nodded in agreement. Looking at Bai Hanyun, he said, "Now that we know Bai Yansheng isn’t your father, his motive is clear. He wants to take the Bai Group from you."
Pausing for a second, he asked, "Hanyun, what is your next plan?"
When asked, Bai Hanyun sneered and replied, "I’m going to take back what belongs to me and make them pay for what they have done."
Jiang Yinqi pondered for a while and then said, "Hanyun, if you want to find your father, I can help you."
Hearing this, Bai Hanyun shook her head. "Elder Brother Yinqi, I’m 22 now. If he wanted to find me, he would have done it long ago before Grandfather did. Since he didn’t want me, why should I want him?"
