Lu Qing wrapped an arm around her shoulder and looked over at Xu Jiaojiao. Clearly a woman, yet her face seemed more handsome than a man’s. His mind wandered back to the photo Jin Jing had sent him.
His eyes narrowed slightly, while Xu Jiaojiao remained oblivious and continued walking straight into the line of fire:
"Are you Miaomiao’s new flame? Huh, not bad-looking."
His voice carried a chill, and Jin Jing, standing nearby, felt a shiver run down his spine. The goddess Jiaojiao was definitely doomed.
Xu Jiaojiao narrowed her eyes and clicked her tongue:
"Yep, you’re the new flame. I’m the old flame."
What does "heh" even mean?
He looked down at Qin Miaomiao and said flatly, "She’s your old flame? You want to keep her?"
His own wife wanting to keep another woman? Heh, wasn’t she ambitious!
Faced with Lu Qing, she instantly felt deflated and began stammering an explanation:
"Well... actually... it’s kind of a misunderstanding."
"Miaomiao, wait, are you planning to abandon me?"
Xu Jiaojiao interjected with dramatic flair, clearly intent on stirring trouble. Her eyes gleamed with provocation as she stared him down!
Lu Qing’s lips curled into a smile, but his gaze turned icy. He spoke:
Jin Jing had been enjoying the show, but suddenly hearing his name called, he froze in place.
"Take her away." He didn’t hit women, but seeing this particular woman’s face—and her apparent closeness with Miaomiao—made him want to punch something.
Jin Jing scrambled to pull Xu Jiaojiao away, but her expression darkened. Miaomiao might have a husband—though he was about as useful as if she didn’t—but this Lu Qing guy was an absolute jerk.
The man in front of her, though decent-looking, still might turn out to be trash, who knows?
Miaomiao was so soft and adorable—what if she got conned? And with the Lu Family’s influence, what if Miaomiao let her guard down and got schemed against?
"Heh, I’m Miaomiao’s best friend. Telling me to leave—what’s that supposed to mean? Miaomiao’s too soft and easygoing, but I’m not. Are you serious about Miaomiao or not?"
Adopting the tone of a protective family member, she pressed him for answers.
Lu Qing studied her closely and answered in a cool voice:
"Of course, I’m serious."
Xu Jiaojiao scrutinized him with a critical eye. His looks were certainly up to par, but if he was just another pretty boy... heh.
"You’re trying to court my Miaomiao?"
That’s his wife we’re talking about—what’s there to court?
Jin Jing, knowing Lu Qing’s identity, quickly stepped forward to smooth things over:
"Jiaojiao, I swear on my honor, Young Master Lu’s definitely a decent guy. He..."
Xu Jiaojiao suddenly shrieked:
"What did you just say? Young Master Lu?"
"Yeah, Lu Qing is Young Master Lu. You didn’t know who he is?"
Xu Jiaojiao cried out in disbelief: "You’re Miaomiao’s husband?"
Now it was Jin Jing’s turn to be shocked. That sweet and gentle-looking girl was actually Lu Qing’s wife??
Having watched the entire situation unfold, Qin Miaomiao felt the urge to cover her face. So, none of them knew the truth?
Well, fair enough—while she and Jiaojiao had met several times, she never properly explained. Hence, the misunderstanding.
Xu Jiaojiao was utterly crushed. Damn it, so this jerk of a husband is what Miaomiao ended up with?
She spat furiously: "You’re the bastard husband who abandoned her for months, started rumors, and even planned to divorce Miaomiao, aren’t you?"
Lu Qing’s face darkened, his sharp gaze locking onto Qin Miaomiao.
"In your eyes... that’s who I am?"
Misunderstanding! Holy crap, this had to be something the original Qin Miaomiao complained to Xu Jiaojiao about—now it was her turn to take the fall. For crying out loud, what did she ever do to deserve this?!
