"George, lend me your room for a bit."
After saying this, Lu Qing grabbed Qin Miaomiao by the arm and pulled her into a room.
Little third, Little sixth, and Little seventh exchanged puzzled glances.
Little second: "Well, if I’m not mistaken, Young Madam just slapped Young Master Lu, right?"
Little seventh: "At this point, even if a comet hits Earth, I wouldn’t be surprised. But what I’m curious about is how Young Master Lu plans to coax Young Madam."
Little sixth: "One word: action."
Little second and Little seventh: Does it have to be so blunt and straightforward?
At the side, Mr. Jiu calmly sat down and casually instructed:
"Old Third, prepare the plane just in case."
Little sixth had a bad feeling: "Dare I ask, Mr. Jiu, what kind of ’just in case’?"
Mr. Jiu gave him a sidelong glance:
"What do you think? If Little Jin’er gets a divorce, I’m all for it. Old Third, be ready to escort the young miss back to her family."
Little sixth began to sweat nervously. Mr. Jiu was clearly adding fuel to the fire, hoping for some drama between Young Master Lu and Young Madam!
He hastily signaled to Little second and Little seventh—they had to stop Mr. Jiu, or else all of them would be doomed and sent back to the base for punishment!
Inside the room, it was like a battlefield, fierce and intense. Qin Miaomiao’s hands had been pinned behind her, and she was pressed onto the bed. Both of them...well, their clothes were tidy, but the posture was undeniably suggestive.
"Lu Qing, you bastard, let me go now!"
"No way. If I let you go, you’ll just run."
"Run? Why would I stay here? So you can laugh at me?"
Lu Qing’s eyes darkened, his tone cool:
"Miao Miao, this time, it was dangerous. Someone offered ten billion pounds for my life, but..."
"I let my guard down and was drugged unconscious. When I woke up, I was already at George’s vineyard. He deliberately accepted the mission—partly to protect me, and partly to catch the mastermind behind all this."
After hearing this, Qin Miaomiao couldn’t help but feel a chill of fear. If George had harbored even a shred of ill intention, Lu Qing might really have been dead!
Her hands and feet felt cold as she replayed the narrow escape in her mind. Even the tiniest mistake could’ve made her a widow.
"Then why didn’t you contact me as soon as you woke up?"
"I was injected with strong sedatives. The side effects were severe. Besides, I didn’t expect you’d come to France, let alone dare to bring explosives to negotiate with George."
Now Qin Miaomiao was feeling a bit nervous. She stammered as she explained:
"I was just afraid something would really happen to you. Even Ninth Uncle was detained, so I had to prepare for both possibilities. If money couldn’t solve it, then I was ready to risk it all."
Lu Qing released her, his eyes fixed on her, full of emotions she couldn’t quite decipher, like the mysterious depths of an ancient well.
He raised his hand and gently stroked her hair, again and again. After a long silence, he finally spoke, his voice low and tinged with a husky intensity that stirred the heart:
"Miao Miao, in my life, I, Lu Qing, have been schemed against countless times, escaped death countless times, and survived on the edge of the blade. Never did I imagine that someone would value my life this much."
Qin Miaomiao opened her mouth to say something, but before she could, he suddenly grabbed her hand and pressed it against his chest. Word by word, he said:
"Miao Miao, from now on, my life belongs to you. So I’ll cherish it—I won’t let you face danger because of me ever again."
Qin Miaomiao’s heart softened in an instant, her eyes reddened, and she couldn’t believe how much she cared for this man. Thinking about it now, it all seemed so unreal.
She opened her mouth to speak but faltered for a moment before finally asking, "Does your face still hurt?"
