Chapter 153 The Confrontation
Unexpectedly, Lisa did not doubt, "Well, a person coming from a wealthy family is commonly fastidious. Master Cage did not even look at me. While I was talking earlier. He must be tired from work before he came." Lisa turned to her phone's front camera and took a selfie.
Veronica paused for a moment and decided to go ahead.
On her way out to the elevator, the lights suddenly went off and a faint light shone on her way ahead. The radio station usually still works after midnight so she wondered what happened because there was no notice of a power outage. She felt strange.
On her way down felt like she's the only person inside the whole station.
After getting out of the elevator, she walked through the long corridor to the main gate.
Her vision was poor in the dark. She was startled when she suddenly heard footsteps coming from behind her. In the silence, the footsteps became clearer like it was coming closer to her.
Veronica didn't know why, but she felt chills go through her spine as if someone was following her.
The footsteps behind her sounded calm and patient, like a tiger silently approaching its prey.
Veronica dared not look back and thought that no one would have the courage to do anything illegal inside the station. But she was creeped out and felt a little uneasy.
Veronica was just about to pick her pace up, trying to get through the security door when there was a sudden loud bang on the door when someone pushed.
"Aw!" Veronica felt frightened the moment got pushed against the security door. Veronica frowned and angrily shouted, "Who are you?!"
She froze the moment she saw who pushed her, "Nick?"
Veronica was shocked because she thought he had already left with Miss Hamilton.
"Your memory doesn't seem to be very sharp. Would you like me to remind you now? Huh?" Nick grabbed her by the chin.
"Well." Veronica felt like her jaw was about to break. Nick's grip was so tight, she gasped for air, "I, I do not know what you're talking about."
"Explain yourself now!" Nick yelled at her in a furious tone.
Veronica was flustered and clasped Nick's arms with her small hands.
"You heard it yourself. It has nothing to do with me. Rachel was trying to frame me! You can't blame me for something I did not do." Veronica explained herself.
"Veronica, do you want me to see the surveillance record myself?" Nick's expression became gloomy and ferocious.
Veronica felt nervous knowing that there are surveillance cameras in every corner of the station.
If Nick checks the records then he would see that they went into the dressing room together, he will tear her apart.
If Nick knew she lied, she would be an unpardonable sinner in his eyes and it will also get Lisa in trouble.
Nick released her, turned his back, and left.
Veronica panicked and yelled at him, "Toby did meet me! But I only asked him about anything!"
Nick paused and faced her, he asked her with a cold tone, "What did you ask him?"
Veronica lowered her eyes and confronted, "I asked him if there were any other women in your life."
Nick narrowed his eyes towards her.
