C39 – War Taunt!
As the silvery-gray light entered the “Little White Tower,” it transformed into a myriad of sharp spines in an instant.
While the Spirit Bear was still ensnared by the “Little White Tower’s” Death Bind, those spines acted like lethal blades, riddling the unprotected Spirit Bear with holes!
The Spirit Bear issued an enraged roar as the excruciating pain robbed it of any will to resist, and it gradually dissipated into spiritual light, retreating back into the Grimoire of Demon Spirits belonging to Fu Tian.
Fu Tian himself was gravely wounded, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
“Curse you! How dare you injure my brother! You will pay for this!” Pei Wencheng’s expression was icy as he steadied Fu Tian, who was on the verge of collapsing.
Fu Tian and Bo Miaojiao, still reeling from the suddenness of the fight, finally snapped back to reality. The skirmish had unfolded in a mere instant, with Qin Hongyu dispatching two middle-class battle spirits in under a minute—one of which was the formidable Spirit Bear!
“Good heavens! Brother Feng, you’re incredibly fierce. Your moves were so swift and mesmerizing, I could barely keep up! To think you’d turn a defensive Spiritual Card into an offensive weapon and take out the Spirit Bear in a single stroke—absolutely brilliant!” Fu Tian exclaimed, awestruck.
Qin Hongyu offered a weak smile, then swayed unsteadily, as if a gust of wind might knock him over.
“Hongyu, what’s happened to you?” Bo Miaojiao hurried over to support him.
“I’m fine. I just overextended myself using the battle spirit skill and the Spiritual Card back to back,” Qin Hongyu reassured her with a smile.
“You’ve been too impulsive. We’re only at the first rank, so naturally, our Spiritual Energy is limited! You should recall your battle spirit first! And remember, we’re still here!” Fu Tian called out.
Qin Hongyu acknowledged with a smile and a nod. As he was about to retract the “Little White Tower,” a massive pincer suddenly snapped shut on its tail.
“Think you can harm my brother and just walk away? It’s not going to be that easy,” Pei Wencheng said with a cold smirk.
Suddenly, the scorpion spirit that had been lurking beneath the soil revealed its true form, slowly emerging from the earth.
While the “White Tower” was engaged in battle with the bear spirit, the scorpion spirit had seized the opportunity to stealthily position itself right beneath the White Tower.
Just as Qin Hongyu’s spiritual energy was depleted, and the sharp armor on the “White Tower” vanished, the scorpion spirit took its chance, clamping down on the serpent spirit’s tail with its powerful pincers.
“Scorpion spirit, unleash your venomous sting!” commanded Pei Wencheng.
The scorpion spirit’s tail, glinting with a chilling light, arched high, a drop of deep purple venom slowly beading at its tip before hurtling down towards the “White Tower”.
Should the “White Tower” be struck by that lethal sting, it would surely suffer a devastating blow!
“Rip, deploy War Taunt!” Fu Tian bellowed, summoning his battle spirit and casting it beside the “White Tower”.
His tortoise spirit emitted a piercing cry, starkly contrasting Rip’s usual languid tones.
Simultaneously, Fu Tian flung a Gray Iron Rank Spiritual Card into the fray, the “Armored Beetle — Ironclad” he had obtained earlier.
In an instant, Rip’s shell was sheathed in a layer of silvery-white metal, exuding an aura of impregnability.
The sting, meant for the “White Tower,” instead struck Rip’s fortified shell, resulting in a crisp and pleasing clang of metal on metal.
