Si Mingjing didn’t know how to respond and, in the end, Mo Yinhe bundled her into the car waiting outside the villa.
The extended Bentley was 6.1 meters long. Its low-key, luxurious, burnished black exterior with gold accents exuded an aristocratic elegance.
Without a word, he pushed her into the car, then with a long stride, he quickly got in himself.
Old Mrs. Ye and Ye Nianbai, needing no instruction, swiftly followed them into the car. The old and the young were both remarkably agile.
Once little Ye Nianbai was in the car, he gave his capable dad a thumbs-up. "Daddy, you’re so cool! You know how to get me a wife."
Mo Yinhe didn’t respond to his son.
The car quickly drove away.
The enclosed space of the car soon filled with Si Mingjing’s draconic pheromones. Little Ye Nianbai sniffed deeply, then moved closer to her. "Jingjing, you smell so good!"
Ye Nianbai wanted to keep sniffing, but Mo Yinhe picked him up with one hand and placed him on his other side.
At the same time, Mo Yinhe lowered a window, letting the breeze in to disperse the rich fragrance.
Si Mingjing seized the chance to slip into the back seat and chat with Old Mrs. Ye, not daring to look towards the front the entire time.
Mo Yinhe, however, didn’t seem to mind. He sat elegantly, his deep eyes watching her uneasy reflection in the rearview mirror, his gaze meaningful.
Si Mingjing found the air in the car torturous. The Ye Family estate was some distance from the Song Family’s residence, so the car drove for a full forty minutes before finally reaching the Ye Family estate and stopping at the entrance to Old Mrs. Ye’s villa.
Old Mrs. Ye got out first. Standing by the car, she earnestly took Si Mingjing’s hand. "Mingjing, just stay here and don’t worry. For now, don’t go back to the Song Family. If not for your quick thinking tonight, who knows how badly they would have bullied you."
"Thank you, Old Mrs. Ye."
But bullying her wouldn’t be that easy.
The Ye Family estate, on the other hand, was now fraught with peril.
After Old Mrs. Ye went inside, the car continued for another two minutes, stopping in front of the villa where Mo Yinhe lived.
As soon as she got out of the car, Si Mingjing said, "Xiaobai, Mr. Mo, good night. I’m going to head to the annex to take a bath and rest."
Little Ye Nianbai wanted to follow her.
"Jingjing, let’s bathe together! I can’t reach my back; you can help me scrub it," he proposed.
Mo Yinhe picked him up by the scruff of his neck with one hand, like a kitten, carried the little boy back into the villa, and deposited him in the living room. "Go do your homework."
Little Ye Nianbai was reluctant. "I want to take a bath with Jingjing first, then do homework afterward."
"Men and women are different."
"But Daddy, Jingjing is my wife, so it’s okay," he insisted in his childish voice, sounding perfectly self-assured.
Mo Yinhe felt a strong urge to give him a sound thrashing. His voice was deep and authoritative. "You have half an hour to do your homework. I’ll check in half an hour. If it’s not done well, watch your backside."
Indignant, Ye Nianbai pouted and stuck out his little bottom. "Hmph, I just farted! I hope the wind blows it into your mouth!"
Seeing his dad’s displeased face, Ye Nianbai bolted.
After Si Mingjing returned to the annex, she took a long, hot bath to calm her nerves. Lying in the bathtub, she wondered, Is it better to turn myself in, or deny everything to the end?
As the saying goes: leniency for those who confess, severity for those who resist.
After a few encounters, she understood that Mo Yinhe wasn’t a man who could be easily fooled. His intelligence was on par with hers; he must have already guessed she’d mistaken his identity.
