After waiting two more minutes, Ye Qilan’s voice, cold as iron, came through the phone: “Withdraw.”
Age was stunned at first, thinking he was hallucinating. He asked again, “What did you just say, sir?”
“Everyone! Withdraw!”
Then, the phone hung up.
Age was completely baffled. He hadn’t yet informed Ye Qilan that Su Hongxing was acting suspiciously and something was very off.
But when it came to pinpointing what was wrong with Su Hongxing, he couldn’t really say.
Now that Ye Qilan ordered everyone to withdraw, he had no choice but to obey…
At seven o’clock that night, Beichuan brought food to Hongxing and knocked on her door.
Just as Su Hongxing came out of the bathroom. Seeing her pale as a sheet, he was worried: “Su Su, are you sure you don’t need to see a doctor?”
Something didn’t seem right about Su Hongxing. It seemed like she was seriously ill, yet she stubbornly insisted she was fine.
“It’s nothing, I’ll be fine after some sleep. I know my own body.” Su Hongxing’s voice was hoarse.
Seeing her persistence, Beichuan didn’t know what else to say: “Then have dinner first. Also, it seems that all the people Ye Qilan sent have withdrawn.”
Ye Qilan didn’t seem like the kind of person to give up easily, which is why he found it strange.
Su Hongxing paused in the middle of a bite: “Them withdrawing is good news. I just saw a video that was leaked on the internet. They said the scene was heavily scrutinized. How did you manage to capture that?”
“I specifically brought a group of people into the wedding venue, among them two wearing glasses. In their glasses were mini cameras–”
Before Beichuan could finish his sentence, he watched as Su Hongxing suddenly got up, startling him: “What’s going on?!”
Su Hongxing managed a weak smile: “Leave the food here for now, I want to take a nap before eating. I really don’t have an appetite right now.”
“But you haven’t even had lunch…”
Seeing Su Hongxing’s frail state, Beichuan finally relented: “Don’t stress out. I won’t pressure you. I’ll only share a room with you when you’re ready.”
On his way home, he carelessly asked if he could sleep with her tonight. Afterwards, she started acting strange.
Did the prospect of sleeping with him really upset her that much?
By then, Su Hongxing had already walked to the door, gesturing for him to leave.
Beichuan had no choice but to leave reluctantly, his face showing his displease.
Once Beichuan left, Su Hongxing ran into the bathroom. Ten minutes later, she emerged and ate a little bit of the food left on the table.
Afterwards, she sat by the window watching the rain.
She had felt it that morning, the bad weather, likely a heavy rainstorm was due.
Just as she predicted, a heavy rain came unexpectedly.
Water splashed on the window sill, soaking her shirt. She stepped out onto the balcony, and a lightning bolt struck down. Startled, she quickly retreated back inside.
She stood there in a daze for quite a while…
Beichuan, worried about Su Hongxing, came knocking at her door again. He was alarmed when he found her standing on the balcony in the rain.
“Are you trying to kill yourself? You’re sick and you’re exposing yourself to wind and rain. What were you thinking?!” Beichuan pulled Su Hongxing back into the bedroom.
This woman had always been rational and knew her limits. What happened today was out of character.
Logically, after they teamed up to regain the upper hand, she should’ve been toasting with him in celebration.
Even getting too excited wouldn’t warrant celebrating in the rain, would it?
As she watched Beichuan wipe the rain from her face, Su Hongxing zoned out for a moment before saying in a hollow voice: “Beichuan, I can’t marry you anymore…”
