Chapter 18: Chapter 18 Which Man is Liang Yizhou to You?
Su Yalan sneered, “You’re no longer part of the Su Family, are you even worthy?”
Su Nian chuckled in response, “So, the illegitimate daughter has become legitimate; quite the attitude now.”
Su Yalan, her grandfather’s second wife’s daughter, was only a few years older than her.
Seeing Su Yalan at a disadvantage, Deng Tonglian intervened with authority, “Su Nian, stop with your offensive sarcasm! Sheng Han is not a place for you; resign immediately.”
Su Nian replied calmly, “I’m sorry madam, but this is my job.”
“A job? Don’t think I don’t know what you’re plotting. What, spent all the money you conned from my son and now you’re back for more?”
Su Nian maintained her smile, “I believe madam’s son isn’t someone so easily fooled. Madam, it’s still working hours, sorry, I can’t entertain you much longer. Regarding resignation, madam can use her influence to have someone higher up fire me, no need to waste your breath on me.”
She’d rather leave; she disliked a life where storms could capsize her at any moment.
“Hmph, don’t think you’re the only one with tricks up your sleeves! We’ll just see! I’ll show you that old ginger is hotter than the new!”
“Madam, feel free to do as you please.” Su Nian smiled gracefully, glimpsed someone coming out of the elevator from the corner of her eye, and without another word, turned back to her office.
Shen Hanxiu strode over rapidly with his long legs, looking displeased at the two beside the glass door, “Why are you here?”
Deng Tonglian’s ferocious demeanor softened into a loving one, “Son, if you won’t come home, mom had to come find you.”
Shen Hanxiu stated flatly, “Did you come to find me or to find trouble?”
Deng Tonglian’s expression changed as she retorted, “Son, you’ve hidden that woman in the company, what do you expect Yalan to think?”
“Let her think what she wants, I’m not interested in the drama you’ve scripted.”
That casual attitude infuriated Deng Tonglian, “What are you saying?! It’s been four years since the engagement; you owe Yalan an explanation, no matter what!”
“I’m not getting involved in your business, take this woman and leave, and if you come to cause a scene in the company again, don’t say a mother can’t enter her son’s company next time.”
“Fine, mom won’t cause trouble, I’ll talk to Yalan’s parents when I get back and settle on a date to finish the wedding details.”
Shen Hanxiu responded with a smile, “Write the script however you like.”
Deng Tonglian left fuming, while Su Yalan, feigning understanding, helped her leave.
Su Nian didn’t take the matter to heart, continuing her work with the posture of sitting calmly in a boat in spite of the rising storm.
During lunch, she received a call displayed as “Liang Yizhou.”
“Sister Niannian, your phone is ringing.” Wei Lan reminded her, seeing her delayed response.
Su Nian answered the call, a gentle male voice on the other end, “I’m at the airport now, do you have time for lunch?”
“Yi Zhou…” Su Nian paused before continuing, “I’ve been transferred.”
“Transferred? Why so sudden?” He had thought she was avoiding him.
“Some issues at the company, but I’ve settled in now. You keep focusing on your job there, don’t worry about us.”
“How about the kid? Is he used to the new place?”
“He’s enjoying the novelty, I’ll come to visit you during the holidays.”
Just as she finished speaking, her phone was snatched from her hand. Su Nian turned to see Shen Hanxiu beside her; he glanced at the phone screen, pressed something, and said nonchalantly, “Sorry, I accidentally hung up.”
Su Nian glared at him, snatched back her phone, and then his cold voice continued, “Who is Liang Yizhou to you?”
