At midnight, after he had his fill, Su Nian was exhausted and still had to call Yang Ming to come and treat his wounds.
It was embarrassing, and not exactly something to be proud of, to have to call a doctor over for such matters.
Yang Ming finished dressing his wounds and spoke for the first time since entering: “If you value your life, you better exercise some restraint.”
Shen Hanxiu was lying on the bed, unconcerned.
Su Nian hurriedly helped Yang Ming pack up and respectfully escorted him to the door: “I’m really sorry, Doctor Yang, for troubling you so late at night.”
Yang Ming simply said, “Just don’t let him do as he pleases.”
Su Nian nodded awkwardly: “Yes!”
After sending Yang Ming off, Su Nian’s face was still burning hot.
Back in the room, seeing that it was already three o’clock, she yawned, went to the bathroom, utterly exhausted.
Resting on Shen Hanxiu’s arm and nestled in his embrace, she hadn’t felt this secure in a long time.
After leaving him, she had started to act like a man, shouldering everything herself.
However, whenever she returned to his side, she felt like she became that little woman again; he was like her sky, making her feel completely safe.
Content, Su Nian snuggled deeper into his arms, clung tightly around his waist, but he forcefully pressed her lower body against a certain part of him: “Want another round?”
Su Nian glared at him, kicked him away: “You want to call Doctor Yang back? It’s embarrassing enough for me!”
“What are you fidgeting for? When I let you move, you don’t, when I tell you not to, you can’t stay still!”
Su Nian let go of his waist, turned her back on him angrily: “You never used to be harsh with me!”
“Before, you were my wife, now you’re not.”
Su Nian felt even more aggrieved: “You slept with me before saying I’m not your wife…”
“So, sleeping together makes us married? What’s the use of the registry office then?”
Su Nian shifted aside: “If we’re not, then I won’t sleep with you anymore!”
Shen Hanxiu chuckled, pulled her back into his arms: “What about when the little tadpoles look for their mother?”
“Let them find whoever!”
“What about the other little tadpoles when those two have grown up? Can they just find anyone?”
Su Nian fell silent, then turned her head to ask: “How do you know Su Zhen and Su Bao are your kids?”
“You’re doubting your husband’s intelligence.”
Su Nian mimicked him: “So, sleeping together makes us married? What’s the use of the registry office then?”
Shen Hanxiu looked at her menacingly, his tone warning: “Are you asking for another round?”
Knowing his temper, Su Nian finally shut her mouth.
After a while, Shen Hanxiu lifted her head slightly, adjusted their position, and asked: “When do you plan to let me and the kids acknowledge each other?”
Su Nian said, “Su Zhen already calls you Daddy, doesn’t she?”
“What about Su Bao?” He was concerned about this child, who had always been somewhat unfriendly towards him.
“Su Bao takes after you, cold on the outside but warm inside, he knows what’s going on!”
“Takes after me? Where’s the cold or the warm?”
Seeing he was being unserious again, Su Nian ended the conversation: “Go to sleep! Do you still want to earn money to support the family tomorrow?”
The next day, yawning, Su Nian still went to the company with Shen Hanxiu.
He went upstairs, Su Nian got off at the nineteenth floor, initially intending to find Wei Lan, but saw her requesting leave.
As she came out of the office, she excitedly asked Su Nian: “Sister Niannian! Are you coming back to work?”
Su Nian arched an eyebrow: “It’s not impossible.” She then glanced at the leave form in her hand, asking: “Taking leave for a honeymoon with Special Assistant Yang?”
Wei Lan shook her head with a smile: “No, I’m taking him to meet my parents.”
While they were talking, Yang Zichen walked to the office door, ignoring all other gazes, his eyes focused solely on Wei Lan, asking: “Are you ready?”
Su Nian quickly tidied up the stuff on her desk: “Almost! I just need to hand over these documents.”
Yang Zichen stepped forward, complaining about her slow pace while helping her organize the documents.
Su Nian, watching, felt reassured; after what happened with Jing Zan, it was gratifying to see Wei Lan so happy.
With Yang Zichen’s help, the work was quickly handled. Wei Lan and Yang Zichen walked out side by side, smiling, saying goodbye: “Sister Niannian, I’m leaving now, won’t be back until next Tuesday.”
“Sure, go ahead, take good care of Special Assistant Yang!”
Wei Lan looked up, smiled at him once more, then walked out of the office with a halo of happiness.
Naturally, Yang Zichen’s parents were going along.
Wei Lan initially said her parents could just come over, but Mrs. Yang insisted it was proper for them as the groom’s family to make the visit, not the other way around.
