Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Time has progressed, but the vision has diminished
Watching this scene unfold, the receptionist began to gossip: “Do you think President Shen has taken in both the aunt and niece?”
“Is President Shen the kind of person you’re talking about? A good man who never has scandals, not even once in a thousand years! I think President Shen just likes children. Look how adorable those two are!”
“But I feel that President Shen matches better with the niece. The scene looks like an enviable, warm family! A son and daughter, a handsome and wealthy daddy, a gentle and beautiful mommy. How perfect!”
“Don’t talk nonsense! It’s the uncle-in-law and the niece!”
Knowing that Su Nian had driven over, Shen Hanxiu naturally wouldn’t get in his car, so he took the initiative to slide into his little Audi, enjoying the sluggish speed at which she drove.
Su Nian couldn’t be bothered to argue with him, the best way to deal with an unreasonable man like that was to just ignore him.
“Mommy, aren’t we going to eat prawns?”
“Not anymore, Uncle Liang is here. Didn’t you fuss about wanting to eat the meal Uncle Liang cooks?”
While stuffing chips into her mouth, Su Zhen mumbled, “I haven’t seen Uncle Liang for so long, I’ve missed him to death.”
Just then, Su Nian’s phone rang. Since it was inconvenient to pick up while driving, she turned on the speakerphone, and Shen Hanxiu, sitting beside her, naturally heard everything.
The man’s voice on the other end sounded gentle, but it certainly couldn’t compare to his own!
“Haven’t finished work yet?”
“I’m off. Where are you now?”
“Yijing Garden, your new home.”
“I’ll go buy some groceries first, then wait for a bit, I’ll be right over.”
“Alright, drive safely.”
Su Nian made an “Mhm” sound before hanging up, and Shen Hanxiu immediately commented, “He seems quite concerned about you.”
No sour tone, no sour expressions, but a whiff of sourness lingered in the air of the car.
Su Nian chose to ignore it.
“How long have you two been together?”
Su Nian deliberately teased him with a short answer: “Four years.”
However, the man always carried an air of composure and casually said, “Not bad, two years for the former, four years for the latter, you’ve made progress.”
Su Nian didn’t bother explaining and drove into the underground parking lot of the shopping mall soon after.
Just as she got out of the car with the child, a familiar male voice came from behind: “Su Nian.”
“Uncle Liang! Mommy, it’s Uncle Liang!”
Dressed in light-colored casual work attire, the man looked elegant, gentle, and genteel. Shen Hanxiu watched him unblinkingly and added from behind Su Nian, “Time has improved, but the taste has declined.”
Confidence in his own appearance and charisma was something Third Young Master Shen never lacked. This was not vanity; it was a universally acknowledged fact.
Knowing that he would never say anything pleasant, Su Nian didn’t even bother responding to him and took a few steps toward Liang Yizhou: “How did you find your way here?”
“Since you mentioned going grocery shopping, I thought I’d try my luck at the mall. I was lucky to see your car, so I followed.”
Su Bao walked up and held his hand: “Uncle, let’s go.”
Liang Yizhou glanced at Shen Hanxiu, who was holding Su Zhen. He didn’t ask Su Nian, but he could guess. This man must have something significant to do with the Su Nian of four years ago, and the relationship wasn’t shallow – evident from the antagonistic look the man gave him.
Su Bao, who had always been resistant to Shen Hanxiu, now took the initiative to hold Liang Yizhou’s hand, while also holding Su Nian’s hand, forming a complete and sweet family of three.
In contrast, the one holding Su Zhen seemed somewhat redundant.
