Looking back, those dark histories are all in the past, not a big deal, but when she reached a certain height, the extent and uncontrollability of those issues would become problematic, so it was better to inform her in advance.
After finishing her afternoon classes, Yuran waited for Qi Younian at South Gate. Shortly after, Qi Younian’s car appeared within her sight. She crossed the street to get into the car on the other side.
"We’re going straight to RSM to meet Xuan Ze now, and you have half an hour to briefly fill me in and give me an idea of the whole situation," Yuran said as soon as she got into the car, and Qi Younian didn’t waste a word.
He got straight to the point.
Yuran had the same idea and started to explain.
"The original owner of this body, before I took over, had a lot of dark history that would have been dug up by those with ulterior motives if I decided to enter the entertainment industry.
There’s a clear difference between having these things exposed by someone else and exposing them oneself, so I was thinking, maybe after I tell you about some past events, you could help arrange them?"
"What did you do before?" Qi Younian asked after a pause.
After a moment of silence, Yuran said, "Everything you can imagine, I’ve done."
Qi Younian glanced at her sideways, somewhat exasperated, "How much could you have done at such a young age? Cheating classmates? Hooliganism? Fighting and making trouble?"
Yuran continued, "I even messed with ecstasy, do you know how I came to be here? The girl overdosed, fell from the second floor, and died. When I came, I took over for her. Since I became her, whatever she did, I undoubtedly did as well."
It’s not like you can tell people it wasn’t my doing, I arrived after she died.
That would be more horrifying.
Qi Younian immediately felt overwhelmed, "Do those ex-friends of yours still contact you?"
Yuran shook her head, "No, after falling down the stairs, I returned to the capital from Bo City. The Bo Family took care of all those things."
"The Bo Family?" Qi Younian picked up on the key point.
Yuran realized she hadn’t yet informed Qi Younian about the relationship between this body and the Bo Family, so she retold the connection, Qi Younian pursed his lips, thought for a moment, "How is your relationship with Bo Yan?"
"He doesn’t think much of me," Yuran answered, "Probably because the original owner left him with a bad impression, I can’t remember."
It’s better to leave out the part about getting into his bed.
Qi Younian did not ask further and nodded, "Going by your assumption, if the Bo Family handled the situation, there probably wouldn’t be any lasting issues, but just in case, we should still give Xuan Ze a heads-up to avoid future trouble."
"Yes, that’s what I think too."
The two of them were of one mind; such tacit understanding would permeate seamlessly when they worked together, very comfortably.
When the two arrived at RSM, Ada came downstairs to receive them and took them directly to the conference room next to Xuan Ze’s office. Ada said to them, "Tang Zheng is in a video conference and it’ll be about five more minutes. Please wait a bit, sorry for the inconvenience."
Qi Younian smiled, "No problem, it’s us who came uninvited; there’s no need to rush."
Ada returned the smile politely, turned around, and instructed the assistant to pour two cups of tea for them both.
A few minutes later, Xuan Ze entered the room looking travel-worn and slightly disheveled. The two exchanged glances as they watched Xuan Ze take a seat across from them. He casually swept back his hair before speaking, "What urgent business brings you seeking me?"
Qi Younian looked at him, "Xuan Ze, you don’t look so good."
Xuan Ze nodded, "Let’s talk about my issues later; let’s hear yours first."
