Catherine hurried back home and received a call from her brother, Nick, who was furious on the other end, "You went to Bo Yan’s set and confronted his wife?"
"Catherine, what am I to say to you? Did you just ignore everything I’ve told you before?"
Enraged, Catherine retorted, "Whose brother are you really? I was bullied, and you did nothing to help me; instead, you come to criticize me?"
Nick was infuriated by Catherine’s logic, "I just want to ask you one thing."
Nick didn’t want to aggravate Catherine’s current mood because he knew very well that no matter what he said, his sister wouldn’t listen.
Not only would she not listen, but she might outright refuse to take his advice.
So, he calmed himself and subtly changed the subject; Catherine calmed down as well. Nick asked, "Do you know that Bo Yan is a married man?"
Catherine paused, then snorted coldly, "Brother, you don’t really want to have a proper conversation with me, do you?"
Nick replied, "Why wouldn’t I want to talk properly? Am I accusing you horribly right now? I’m just calmly asking a question that everyone knows the answer to. I also want to ask you, how can you be so shameless?"
"Knowing that Bo Yan is married, you still go and humiliate yourself in front of his wife. Did your successful upbringing and smooth-sailing life lead you to become such an unmeasured person?"
"If so, I have ways to make you change back. If you no longer want anything the Hawes Family provides, just say it early to save me from heartache and the feeling that my efforts for you are wasted."
Nick didn’t give her a chance to speak, "Honestly, as your brother, I didn’t want to speak so harshly, but Catherine, you really make me want to humiliate you;
Do you know how many of the family business projects are currently entangled with Diyang?
I’m talking about the Diyang headquartered in New York, not their local branch. Don’t mess up our family’s dealings, or else—"
"I won’t let it go. I can even cut ties with you if necessary."
"So now, no matter what you truly feel, stop this immediately, don’t proceed any further, or I won’t know what I might do."
"Are you threatening me?" After a long silence, Catherine drew this conclusion.
Nick snorted, "Your sister-in-law will be keeping an eye on you; I hope you behave. Don’t make her uncomfortable, or I won’t forgive you."
Upon hanging up, Nick didn’t care what she said; Catherine was so infuriated that she threw her phone against the floor-to-ceiling window glass, shattering it.
When Linda heard the commotion from the living room and walked in, she saw Catherine’s face distorted with anger and saw the smartphone broken into pieces on the floor beneath the window. Before Catherine had left, Linda had warned her not to go out.
Now under Nick’s direct management, Linda would necessarily report Catherine’s activities.
So upon entering, Linda was immediately targeted by Catherine, her eyes full of resentment, unsatisfied, "Linda, is the payment I recently gave you so hefty that you had the spare energy to play the gossiper?"
Unfazed, Linda simply looked at her, "Catherine, this might be our territory, but don’t underestimate Bo Yan’s influence. Moreover, Yuran is now engaging with many major brands, and it seems like they prefer collaborating with her. So, for a less awkward future encounter, you better restrain yourself;"
"Didn’t Bo Yan make it clear? There is no possibility between you and him. He cares only about Yuran, and are you sure you want to make yourself feel frustrated?"
"Facing that couple will do no good. You gained fame at a young age and have such a promising future; why do you insist on fixating on Bo Yan?"
Catherine suddenly burst into laughter, drawing near Linda with a somewhat maniacal smile, "Give up on him? Sure, make him sleep with me for one night, and I will."
Linda’s eyes widened in shock, "Are you insane?"
Catherine sneered, "Can’t do it, huh? Since you can’t, then don’t waste your words on me here. I don’t like to hear them."
Having been with Catherine for many years, Linda never felt as sober as this moment; she believed Catherine was genuinely insane.
Sleeping with Bo Yan, that was what many in their circle wished to do, yet to date, only his wife succeeded, hadn’t she?
