At her words, his expression darkened slightly, and he asked Jian Dan, "Then, would you like to come back to live here? Or should I hire a driver to take you to and from school every day?"

After arriving home, Lin Ma prepared a late-night snack for Jian Dan, Sweet Fermented Rice Balls.
Jian Dan ate less than half a bowl and urged Lin Ma to rest. Lin Ma hadn’t seen her for two days and missed her, mentioning that a couple of days ago, there were pets on sale at the supermarket entrance, Ragdoll cats or something, really expensive.
Jian Dan’s eyes lit up as she listened. Seeing that Bo Qin hadn’t gone upstairs, she strolled into the living room and stood beside Bo Qin. Bo Qin set down his tablet and looked at the girl with her head hung low, chuckling, "Is there something you want to ask or say?"
Jian Dan’s eyes sparkled as she smiled and squeezed in to sit beside him, "Uncle Qin, I would like to have a cat, is that okay?"
Bo Qin reached out and ruffled her head, "This is your home. You can have a cat, a dog, anything you want; you don’t need my permission."
"But this house was bought by Uncle Qin."
Bo Qin laughed, "But it’s in your name, so it’s your house."
Really, what a surprise.
The value of this place must be at least eighty million to start with. Just giving it away like that?
Jian Dan felt undeserving, even somewhat shocked, "Uncle Qin, I’m just staying here temporarily. When I graduate, I will find a job. I can’t accept this house."
"Because... because I can’t take advantage of you." Jian Dan really couldn’t articulate why she couldn’t accept the house and could only come up with a random reason.
Bo Qin knew her well. She not only never used the card he gave her, but she also hardly ever used the money he provided. Unable to refuse Bo Qin’s request, Jian Dan complied, staring into Bo Qin’s eyes. Upon doing so, she wanted to look away, but not wanting to make it too obvious, she persevered.
Bo Qin’s eyes were very dark, with a lively luster within, attentive, commanding.
She could hardly bear such a gaze and was the first to shift her eyes away.
Bo Qin, however, caught her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze, "Don’t evade. Tell Uncle Qin, have I done something wrong? Do you not feel like part of the family, which is why you are so distant? Is that why you calculate everything I give you so precisely?"
Jian Dan instinctively wanted to give a perfunctory response, but Bo Qin didn’t give her the chance. All she could do was to look down, her voice faltering, "Uncle Qin, you brought me to the capital and have raised me since then; that’s already more than enough. You’ve done so much."
"Is it really that much?"
Jian Dan nodded firmly, "Very much so."
Bo Qin stared at her bright eyes and smiled, "But what if I feel it’s not enough? Little Jianjian, did you use the money I gave you? Have you used my supplementary card? Have you ever asked me for anything? Absolutely nothing. Jianjian, don’t you see? You are distancing yourself from me. You don’t want my things, do you?"
