For a couple that had just gotten married, there had to be a honeymoon and it had to be somewhere away from home.
There was this city that Dave always wanted to visit not just because the city looked nice but also because it was home to his favorite team outside Unique FC.
He had been to the city before but it was just a brief visit that didn't last a day, but thanks to his honeymoon, he finally got to spend up to three weeks in the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona.
The couple had been on their honeymoon for three weeks straight, of course, they didn't have a house there so they had to stay at a hotel.
The room they were staying in was one that gave someone a good view of some parts of the city because of the glass interior which also made up the exterior.
It was 6:05 AM as was shown on the big wall clock on the wall over their bed.
The sun was slowly rising and its rays were penetrating the room through the glass, but the couple were still in bed with their arms wrapped around each other and a white sheet covering their body.
Dave had to turn off his dream control feature because he was on a break and that break also applied to his dream training.
Dave was the first to open his eyes to see Emma's face very close to his but before he could make a move, she slowly opened her eyes.
"Hey." She smiled before she let out a soft yawn while covering her mouth with the back of her hand. "Good morning.
"Good morning." Dave smiled back at her.
"These couple of days have been really nice with you, too bad we have to leave today." She said,
"Yeah, but we're not leaving yet are we?" The goalkeeper said before pressing his lips against hers in a passionate kiss as she tightened her grip on his body.
Their morning romance had to be interrupted before they could go too deep as Dave's phone began to ring behind him.
"Who could that be now?" He mumbled before he turned to his phone which was lying on the small cupboard near the bed and picked it up.
"Who's it?" Emma asked.
"Your brother." He replied before picking up the call.
"Hey, Dave, hope I'm not interrupting something important." The winger said.
Dave didn't reply immediately and slowly raised his gaze to look at Emma before putting it down again.
"Um…no, not exactly, what's up?"
"Nothing much, I just wanted to remind you that you're supposed to meet us at the airport by 10:30 AM, in case you forgot." He said.
"That's just it." The goalkeeper said with a sudden drop of his jaw.
"I knew I interrupted something important," Mateo said.
"Bye, Mateo." He said before ending the call.
"What was that about?" Emma asked after he dropped his phone back on the cupboard where he had picked it from.
"He wanted to remind me that I had to meet them at the airport by 10:30 AM, that's like three hours from now and the airport isn't even that far from here, so." He said before he grabbed her against his body with him lying on his back on the bed.
The two gazed into each other's eyes for a while before Emma said something.
"I'm going to miss you." She said,
"Me too, but it's just a two-week pre-season tour, we'll be back before you know it." He said before they locked lips yet again in a passionate kiss which led to him turning him, rolling her over on the bed.
The season was about to start and in order to make sure that the players were warmed up enough before the big games, they had to take part in the pre-season tour.
The pre-season tour, just like the name implied, meant that the team would have to leave their home and come to another part of the world where they would have to face off against teams in that area and other teams that came to visit that part of the world in friendly matches.
A lot of teams started their pre-season tour last week but Unique FC decided to start their own tour this week, and luckily for Dave, the management decided that their tour was going to be at Barcelona, his chosen destination for his honeymoon.
The goalkeeper was all dressed up now, had his breakfast and Emma made sure that his bags were ready and that he wasn't missing anything.
He was standing outside the room now with his backpack on his back, his traveling box on the floor with his hand on the extendable hand, and Emma standing at the door with her gaze on him.
"I guess this is goodbye." The goalkeeper said.
"Yeah, take care of yourself, okay." She said,
"And you too." He said before leaning closer to kiss her. "Make sure you get home safe."
"Alright." He said before turning around with his traveling box. "I'll see you later, wife." He added with a smile on his face.
'Yeah, it still sounds awkward.'
He had to take a cab to get to the Barcelona-El prat airport and by the time he got there, the time displayed on his watch was 10:37 AM.
He thought he was late until he entered the airport to see that that was when Unique FC's private plane was descending from the sky.
"10:30 they said." He muttered before he increased his pace.
By the time he got there, the players were already making their way down the plane.
The goalkeeper was standing in front of the step and the first person he happened to meet who was the first person to come down from the plane was Ferran with Mateo following him from behind.
"Hey, Dave." The midfielder said as soon as he stepped down from the last step.
"Hey, Ferran." He said.
There was this air of awkwardness between the two but Ferran still had to push for a conversation.
"Hope you had a nice honeymoon." The midfielder said.
"Yeah, I did." He replied with a nod.
Mateo had to be the one to step in and break the awkward conversation between the two.
"I didn't expect you to be this early." He said as soon as he stepped in between the two.
"Well, since you had to call me early this morning to remind me, the least I could do was arrive early."
"Yeah, sorry I had to interrupt your morning time with Emma, I didn't know that my call would arrive in the heat of the moment."
"Mateo." The goalkeeper grumbled while trying to keep a straight face.
"Hey, come with me, I have a few things I have to take you through." The winger said.
The two began to walk away from the plane slowly as Mateo explained to him a few of the things that he needed to know before they started heading out to where they were going to be spending their nights during their two-week pre-season tour.
"So, which team are we going to be facing in the first match?" The goalkeeper asked.
"Our first match will be tomorrow against Manchester United at the Reale Arena." Mateo spelled out.
