Dave's daily workout had become limited since he found out about Emma's pregnancy, he had to put something like training with the ball blaster in his lawn and he had to reduce his training duration, he now returned from runs earlier and began to spend less time in the gym.
She could still handle himself at this stage of her pregnancy just like she told him but she still needed help especially in the morning when her nausea gets serious.
Yesterday was a pretty nice day for the couple, they spent the rest of the day together after the interview and today was even going to be better as she was given a day off and Dave was also off work.
The season was kicking off tomorrow with the first match day but there was no rush for Unique FC as their first match was going to be on Monday against Frono FC.
The sun shone brightly in the morning sky as the couple worked together in the kitchen.
Well, working together isn't the right term to use since Dave seemed really happy to be helping her out but she didn't look pleased.
"You don't do it like that." She said before quickly taking the spoon from him.
"Okay, you don't have to be harsh about it." The goalkeeper said as he slowly moved to the side to make way for her.
"I appreciate you helping out here but if you can't do it right then I don't need you in here." She said before she put the spoon in the boiling soup and began to stir it.
"Did you really have to put it that way?"
'Is there really a right and wrong way to stir soup and come to think of it, that was the exact way I was stirring it.'
'No, I'm not that brave.'
"Well, it looks like you have everything under control here, I'll go find something else to do then." He said with an awkward smile on his face before turning to the exit.
"Where do you think you're going?" That grumpy voice was enough to stop him on his track.
"Huh?" He said before slowly turning his gaze back to her.
"You're not a good cook but you can stay here and pass me the things I need but can reach from here, okay." This time her voice didn't sound grumpy at all and she even smiled at him but the goalkeeper wasn't going to get tricked again.
"Okay." He said before moving closer to the wall cabinet to get the salt.
She seemed to have cooled off after breakfast and in the next hour, she fell asleep giving Dave that free time he had been looking for all morning.
He had already done his usual morning workouts so he just wanted to have a relaxing moment and clear his head.
He watched her sleeping peacefully on the bed from the exit and after watching her for a while, he slowly closed the door.
He made his way downstairs and straight to the couch.
"Now, what will be good for relaxing?" He said after taking a deep breath.
He slid his hand into his pocket and brought out his smartphone and just as he was about to turn the screen on, the phone began to vibrate as the name 'Clark' popped up on the screen.
"Clark." He smiled before picking up the call. "Hey, Clark, what's up?"
"I'm okay, bro, what about you?"
"Well, she's fine but she's getting grumpier every day." The goalkeeper replied.
"Well, that's normal for her condition but I'm sure it's nothing that you can't handle," Clark said.
"Of course, I'm handling it well, for the moment at least."
"That's good to hear. You're going to sign the one-year deal today, right?"
"Yeah, I should be there by noon."
"Okay, that's a good move for the club but I hope they let you leave when you want to leave next season, a lot of offers have been coming in for you lately and some of them have even contacted the club directly but I don't want to talk about that now."
"Don't worry, my dad gave me his word," Dave said. "When you say a lot my mind starts thinking of really huge numbers, can you specify the number of offers please?"
"It's eight offers in total so far."
"Okay, that wasn't the number I had in mind but that's still a lot."
"Yeah, that's what I said." He said. "I have to go now, there's still a lot that I want to talk to you about so I'll call you later."
"Okay, bye," Dave said before he ended the call from the other side.
He stared at the wall quietly for a while before he stretched his hand to the table and picked up the remote control.
The contract signing didn't take much time so Dave was able to leave the stadium by 12:40 but he didn't go home immediately and decided to go get something first.
He got home by 1:10 PM and after parking his car, he made his way to the door with his left hand behind him as he seemed to be hiding something there.
He opened the door and entered the house to find Emma in the living room sitting on the couch and she seemed to be enjoying herself.
There was a tray on the table where both of her legs were resting and on the tray were the wraps of the chocolate bars that she had consumed, about twelve wraps and she was still consuming more.
She noticed Dave as soon as he entered the house and quickly turned his gaze to him.
"Oh, you're back, welcome." She smiled before taking a bite from the chocolate bar she was holding.
"What are you eating?" Dave asked before moving toward her with his left hand still behind him.
"A chocolate bar, do you want some?" She asked before stretching it toward him.
"You know chocolate is strongly on the list of things that I am avoiding." He said.
"Oh, yeah, that's a shame." She said before taking another bite from the chocolate bar.
It didn't take her long to notice that Dave was hiding something behind his back.
"What are you hiding there?" She asked before stretching her head to see but he quickly moved toward the couch to prevent her from seeing it.
She tried again but the goalkeeper quickly turned away from the couch to prevent her from seeing anything.
"Just what are you hiding?" She said before quickly tackling him down on the couch and that was when she saw it as he held it out of the couch to prevent it from getting squashed. "Is that…?"
"Yeah, it's for you." He said before raising the bouquet of roses toward her while she was still on his body.
"Oh, that's so sweet of you, Thank you." She said without even bothering to take the flowers from him.
"You don't have to say anything." He said with a little chuckle.
"What's funny?" She asked with raised eyebrows.
"Nothing, it's just that you've got chocolate all over your face."
"Oh, is that so?" She said before quickly pressing her lips against his.
It didn't take long before she pulled her face back.
"Now, it's shared equally." She said with a cheeky smile on her face.
'I think this is the first time that I did not enjoy a kiss from her.' He said subconsciously.
He was trying hard not to swallow the chocolate particles that had already found their way to his mouth.
This is the beginning of a new arc, the first arc ended with the last chapter.
