"I hope you can handle yourself with that crutch, you didn't do too well on your own last night even though you had it," Emma said with her gaze on Dave who was seeing her off to work.
"Don't worry, that was just a silly accident, it won't happen again, just go to work and do what you have to do," Dave said.
"Are you sure you'll be okay?"
She sounded a bit worried and Dave didn't like it.
"I told you not to worry, I'll be okay until you get back, trust me." He said before placing his hand on her shoulder.
"And what about tonight?" She asked.
"We're going to watch the match together, have you forgotten?" He replied.
"That's right, it is at the Wondanimo Stadium after all." She said.
"Yeah," Dave said before modding.
"Alright, then," Emma said before she leaned closer and kissed him. "I'll see you later."
He kept his gaze on her until she was out of sight before he slowly closed the door.
He slowly made his way to the couch with the help of the crutch he was using to support his right leg.
After getting there, he just stood there and stared at the wall clock.
"What am I going to do now?" He muttered.
He was about to sit down on the couch when someone suddenly knocked on the door.
"I wonder who that could be." He said before he slowly began to make his way to the door.
When he got there, he opened the door to see the very person he was expecting a visit from today, but he wasn't expecting him to show up this early.
"Mateo." The goalkeeper said as his mood suddenly brightened up a bit.
"Hey, Dave, can I come in?"
"Sure," Dave said before making way for him to enter the house.
"We're surely going to feel the effects of not having you in the squad today, but we'll do our best," Mateo said.
The two were now sitting in the living room having a conversation about their match against Dynamo FC tonight.
A live match was going on and was being broadcast on the television but they weren't paying any attention to it.
"I know you guys will, just do your best and I will cheer you on from the stands," Dave said.
"Yeah, but this isn't going to be easy." The winger said before he finished his drink and dropped the glass on the table.
"Of course, it's not going to be easy, this is Dynamo FC that we're talking about but they're not unbeatable, we defeated Supreme United in the charity cup after all." The goalkeeper expressed.
"Yeah, they're not unbeatable," Mateo said. "Alright, I'll be on my way, I have to be at the stadium for training in an hour." He said before he began to make his way to the door.
"Alright, then, see you tonight." The goalkeeper said before taking a sip from the red content in his glass.
Mateo left through the door and shut it and after a few minutes, he turned his gaze to the door and slumped down on the couch.
The match between Unique FC and Dynamo FC was set to kick off by 8:00 PM and the time was nigh.
"Are you going to drive or should I do it?" Emma asked as she made her way to the car alongside her husband, she was walking slowly so that he would be able to keep up.
"Who is in a better condition to drive between me and you?" He asked.
"You will be able to drive fine in your condition but sure, I'll do it." She said before stretching her hand for the car key which Dave didn't hesitate to hand to her.
She entered the driver's seat and closed the door before turning her gaze to Dave who was entering the front seat now.
"Give me your crutch." She said before stretching her hand toward him as soon as he entered the car.
"Okay," Dave said before handing it over to her.
She took the crutch from him and put it in the back before she started the car's engine and zoomed off toward the Wondanimo stadium.
She wanted to go through the front as they were both attending as spectators or fans but Dave told her to go through the back which was the players' route to the stadium to avoid the fans from crowding up on them.
"I'm still a Unique FC player, so I can still go through here and besides there are a lot of fans over there, I'm not sure you would have liked what would have happened if we both went through there."
"Yeah, they may even make your injury worse and I don't know how I will be able to deal with that." She said before letting out a deep sigh.
"Let's go." The goalkeeper said before he opened the door and brought both of his feet down.
"Here's your crutch." She said before handing him his crutch.
"Thank you." He said after taking it from her.
The two made their way inside the building together, but Dave had to leave to head over to the stands alone as he wanted to go talk to his teammates who he was surprised to find out that they were still in the locker by 6:55 PM.
"Don't worry, we'll be heading out soon, Dynamo FC are here in Unique but they haven't arrived at the stadium yet," Merino replied after the goalkeeper asked why they were still in the locker room.
"I sure wasn't expecting to see you here," Minino said after he got close to him and put his arm around his shoulders.
"So, how's your ankle coming?" Ferran asked.
"It's getting better." He replied. "So, where's coach?"
"He needed to go take care of something outside," Adolf said.
"Okay, so can you guys fill me in on the starting eleven?"
"Sure," Mateo said before turning his gaze to the tactics board.
He walked to the board and used the magnetic discs to set up the four-three-three C formation which meant that they were going to have two central midfielders and a defensive midfielder.
"That's the formation he wants us to use. As the only fit goalkeeper in the squad, Alex is going to start in between the sticks, Aima and our captain Adolf are the center backs, Norman is in right back and Roland is in left back. Martinez is our defensive midfielder and our central midfielders are Ferran and Edward.
Fred is the striker, Merino will be starting on the right wing and yours truly will be starting on the left wing, the rest are on the bench." Mateo expressed.
"Okay, that's nice." Dave smiled.
"I think we should start heading to the pitch now," Adolf said before getting up from where he was sitting.
Dave wanted to leave the room first as he was the one closest to the door, and just as he turned, he saw Jonas standing there.
"Oh, hey, Jonas." He said but there was no response from the left back who just walked past him as they two made slight eye contact.
