Bella was visibly excited; she really liked Kung Fu.
Li Chen, Audrey, and Bella started chatting. The conversation began with how Audrey and Li Chen first met and moved on to other topics, such as the party next week. Bella bragged about hooking up with a couple of hot guys and sleeping with them, and so on.
Li Chen, listening on the side, felt somewhat embarrassed. Girls abroad were truly open, although there were open-minded girls in China, they typically wouldn’t discuss such topics in public, like how poor an ex-boyfriend’s performance was, or how big a man should be.
Fortunately, the topic didn’t turn to Li Chen. Moreover, Audrey didn’t join in; she had only been in a relationship once before, with Bob, but they hadn’t gone all the way yet, which surprised Li Chen.
So, does that mean, if Audrey and he were to do it, it would be her first time?
At the thought, a wave of excitement stirred inside Li Chen.
Hearing someone calling him, Li Chen snapped back to reality to find Audrey was calling him.
"Would you accompany me to the dance next week?" Audrey asked with hopeful eyes.
After a moment’s thought, Li Chen smiled and said, "If I have time, I’ll definitely go."
Audrey smiled at his response, but Li Chen wasn’t sure if he had the time. His issues with Ghost King and Shadow were unresolved. Without sorting that out, his time here was limited.
At that thought, Li Chen realized he needed to send a message to Lin Yi, informing him about his situation here to prevent Lin Yi from worrying.
This trip to North America had an uncertain timeline for Li Chen.
Just as they were chatting, the coffee shop’s door opened again. Li Chen looked up to see Bob entering with two police officers.
Audrey and the others panicked upon realizing Bob had brought the police.
The officers were clearly armed, meaning if Li Chen resisted, they were prepared to shoot, which only increased Audrey’s worry.
"That’s him! He’s the illegal immigrant." Bob pointed at Li Chen, prompting the two officers to approach him.
Li Chen watched the approaching officers, who, in turn, looked at Li Chen with his faint smile and started to feel perplexed.
The officer on the left nudged his partner and whispered, "Have we seen this guy before?"
That remark prompted the officer on the right to examine Li Chen more closely, and his expression suddenly changed.
Without further discussion, the officer on the right turned to leave, pulling his partner along with him.
Bob looked smugly at Li Chen but was stunned as the officers turned and walked away. Hey, wait a minute—you’re here to make an arrest, why are you running off?
"Hey, wait! He’s here illegally!" Bob shouted, but Bella and the others watched in amazement. What was going on? Why did both officers just leave upon seeing Li Chen?
The officer on the left was also confused. He only vaguely felt that he’d seen Li Chen before but couldn’t recall exactly where. Given his age, he had merely asked casually, not expecting such a strong reaction from his partner.
The other officer said, "George, you dare arrest him? Do you have a death wish? Don’t forget the D571 operation a few days ago."
With that reminder, the policeman called George’s face changed. The imagery from that time was indeed profound. That day, countless black sedans surrounded him, countless gun barrels pointed at him, and all for what? Wasn’t it all for the person sitting there?
Once they realized this, the two policemen didn’t say another word and prepared to leave the cafe.
At that moment, a faint voice came from behind them, "Stop."
The two policemen stiffened and turned around, only to see Li Chen waving at them.
Bob was dumbfounded. Why did the scene in front of him look like Li Chen was the policeman and those two policemen were the criminals waiting obediently to be arrested?
This was unscientific.
The other people in the cafe were not just surprised but stared dumbfounded as the two policemen walked up to Li Chen.
Bella and the others were also somewhat stunned as they watched the two policemen approach.
"What, what’s the matter?" the two policemen asked, holding back their inner fears, as they dare not offend the person before them.
"I’m finished with my coffee, go refill it for me," Li Chen said, pushing the cup forward with a teasing look in his eyes.
The two let out a sigh of relief, quickly reaching for the cup. However, there was only one cup, and for a moment, they seemed to be competing for it, quite awkwardly indeed.
Bob, beside them, was slack-jawed, staring at Li Chen. Was this guy the Godfather of the KKK?
The KKK, a terrifying mob organization in North America, is also ranked high in the world, and its godfathers are equivalent to the top bosses.
Thinking carefully, Bob was incredibly scared. Why were the policemen so afraid of him? This was the kind of phenomenon you would only see when facing mobsters.
The two policemen went together, and before long, they returned, carefully placing the coffee on the table.
"Anything else?" the two policemen asked tentatively.
"That’s it," Li Chen said after tasting the coffee. "Oh, by the way, I think that kid who brought you guys here has a bit of a record. You might want to look into that."
The two policemen nodded earnestly, and then, at the wave of Li Chen’s hand, they left, taking Bob with them.
"Let me go, what are you arresting me for, you’ve got the wrong person!"
Bob roared, and the people in the cafe were stunned. When they looked at Li Chen again, there was now a hint of awe and fear in their eyes. What was this man’s identity?
Bella and Audrey were also completely taken aback. Audrey was a bit better off; she had seen the police surround the villa before, so she knew Lin Yi was formidable.
After a while, Bella whispered into Audrey’s ear, "Audrey, what’s the story with your boyfriend? Why is he so terrifying?"
Audrey shook her head, "I’m not too clear myself, but that’s not important."
Bella nodded, their gazes measuring up Li Chen as if trying to see through him, wanting to know who he really was.
Li Chen picked up his coffee and smiled slightly, "If you keep looking at me, the coffee is going to get cold."
The four of them chatted for a while longer, and before long, Li Chen saw that it was about time and prepared to leave.
Bella stood up, smiling slightly, "As a gentleman, shouldn’t you walk the ladies out first?"
