Secretary Wang, scared, quickly muffled the microphone of his phone. Only after the chime had stopped did he respond: “Ahem, well, I’m out on a mission. I have no choice, it’s the boss’s order.”

Both of them watched the scenery outside the floor-to-ceiling window at the same time. On a huge LED screen on a building in the distance, a message was flashing by. The Qixi Festival was soon approaching.
Seeing that billboard, Secretary Wang suddenly said as if compelled by a higher power: “Are you free the day after tomorrow evening?”
Xiaochen was a little confused: “Huh?”
She thought about it. Now that Lu was back from Siyi Company, the only project he picked up was here with Qin Zhiyou. So assuming Qin Zhiyou wasn’t too disruptive, she should have plenty of free time. She nodded: “I suppose so, but I can’t be sure.”
“There’s this new movie I’ve been wanting to see and I’ve been looking for someone to accompany me. Could… could you join me?”
“Why the day after tomorrow though? Can’t we go on the weekend?” Xiaochen paused suddenly as the words left her mouth.
The day after tomorrow—it would be Qixi Day.
Does this mean Secretary Wang is going to confess his feelings to her?
Although they’ve been chatting, discussing everything from poetry to life’s aspirations, and both their bosses are in relationships themselves. But neither of them had broken this particular ice. Was she about to step out of the singlehood? Was she about to have a boyfriend?!
Xiaochen’s face turned red all at once, and in her urgency, she even coughed a few times. Secretary Wang resisted the urge to rush over to help her, instead he just held his phone, staring at her anxiously, “What happened? Did you choke? Quick, grab a tissue.”
Xiaochen merely hummed an affirmative before nodding after a while: “Yes.”
“What?” Secretary Wang failed to get it right away and responded with a question.
“Yes, means I agreed you dummy!”
“!!!” Overwhelmed by joy, Secretary Wang couldn’t help but get excited, unable to raise his voice for fear of being heard, he simply nodded repeatedly: “Okay, okay.”
Then he hung up the call, fearing any loud noises would be heard by Xiaochen.
Turning her head, Xiaochen saw a man taking off like a rocket in the distance, his running style quite amusing. She thought to herself, thankfully her own Secretary Wang isn’t such a clown, his running posture is so much more handsome…
