My Joker System: From Low Mana Trash to the Mightiest Wizard! Chapter 157

Hal took a deep breath to calm his overly excited heart.

It was time for the much-anticipated [Rare]-tier draws, and unlike last time, Hal’s success rates were higher this time.

He couldn’t wait to see what spell cards he would draw.

With 3,000 Chaos Points as ammunition, Hal had sixty draws, all of which were boosted by the consecutive draw bonus.

Sixty wasn’t a lot, however, so there was no need for him to utilize the [10x Draw] function, as everything would be over in mere six boring draws if he did so.

There was a notification he strangely yearned to hear, after all:

[Boohoo! No cards drawn!]

’Ahh...now that’s the damned Joker System that I remember...good to have you back...’

[Boohoo! No cards drawn!]

[Congratulations! You have drawn a [Rare]-tier card!]

To his surprise, he already obtained a card on merely the third draw!

He usually had to let his heart bleed four to five times before obtaining one, and that’s already with the help of the consecutive draw bonus.

Card Name: Conjure Steel Golem

Description: Conjure a three-meter-tall Steel Golem.

’Great draw!’ Hal inwardly nodded in satisfaction.

He had already seen what the spell looked like from Pierro, and he had been a bit envious at the time.

As a wizard, having a frontliner to stall one’s enemies was a massive boon, as it allowed one to focus wholeheartedly on offense.

If he had this massive goliath during the skirmish against the four Fellkin, perhaps Monk wouldn’t have died.

After appreciating the draw for a moment, he closed the window and continued tapping away.

The 3,000 Chaos Points were gone in just under five minutes.

But from it, he obtained a whopping twenty-five successful draws, an impressive 40% success rate.

He had never been this lucky before in the [Rare Draw]s.

Hal tapped on his left wrist, breathing heavily as the Deck window appeared.

He excitedly scrolled down to the bottom, where the [Rare]-tier spell cards were located, and immediately merged [Tailwind] and [Summon Spirit Orb], finally obtaining two permanent-durability [Rare]-tier spell cards.

Both were leveled up to two.

Hal had already used [Tailwind], the wind-elemental buff spell that boosted movement speed by nearly three times for seven seconds.

Now that it was level two, the effect would be even stronger, and Hal fully intended to make the most of this permanent-durability card.

’Ahh, crap, but I might need to make my legs stronger before going all out using this spell.’ He mused.

Hal didn’t know how to use [Summon Spirit Orb] yet, but he would try it out later.

It was a strange summon-type spell, as it was ethereal, indestructible, and apparently capable of siphoning life force and mana from the targets it hit, transferring them to the user.

Aside from these two, Hal also obtained a card or two of spells he had previously acquired but run out of charges for, such as [Radiant Decimation], [Gravity Ball], and [Dreadmaw], though he still had a charge remaining for the last one.

Pondering for a few moments, Hal made the decision to merge the two [Dreadmaw] cards, resulting in three uses of the level two darkness elemental spell.

It was probably the strongest purely offensive spell in his arsenal right now.

Nonetheless, there were a few other spells he was excited about, such as his two copies of [Summon Fire Elemental].

Hal had the option to merge them like the [Dreadmaw] spell, but he didn’t, as he wanted to try mimicking a standard summoner-type wizard’s combat style of summoning multiple creatures of the same type.

He shall try to summon two Fire Elementals simultaneously in the future if the need arises.

’That wraps it up, I guess....’

There were still a few more [Rare]-tier spell cards he drew, such as Donner’s [Thunderous Outburst] and a few other elemental spells focused on straightforward destruction, but their effects weren’t particularly difficult to understand, so Hal didn’t pay much attention to their descriptions.

Taking one deep breath, Hal closed the system, sank himself on the soft bed, and closed his eyes, planning to have a quick five-minute rest, but ended up taking a two-hour nap instead.

By the time he woke up, the sun was already on the descent.

Hal was still full of energy, though, so he had to burn it somehow, or he wouldn’t be able to sleep later.

’Oh, right. I haven’t had a great workout session in a while...’

So, after preparing himself and reminding Loki to behave inside the suite, Hal left and headed to the fitness center.

It didn’t even take him ten minutes from the moment he left the academy, thanks to his Suzoke Pathblazer IV.

Arriving at the fitness center’s parking lot, a few heads turned his way, pleasing Hal as he removed his helmet and stored it inside the system’s inventory.

He could do the same for his fitness bag, but he didn’t, as he believed it added to his overall handsomeness.

Hal’s ego was further stroked to the high heavens the moment he entered the establishment.

Most of the clients of the fitness center looked his way, whispering, while those who knew him immediately went ahead to greet and congratulate him on his victory in the Arcana Primis Cup.

They told him how shocked they were to see him on live television, fighting in the grand finals and ultimately winning the match after a tough battle.

The young women who blushed upon learning who he was and what he had recently accomplished also lifted his already exuberant mood a great deal.

Had Hal not been aware that he would look stupid if he didn’t act composed, he would’ve been laughing uproariously by now, as he was barely keeping his emotions in check.

Nonetheless, his plan of looking calm, cool, approachable, and handsome was working well.

It was only after fifteen minutes that he managed to focus on his workout session, remembering during one of his short breaks that he was yet to customize the gesture slots.

’I’ll do it later at the suite...’ He mused, thinking that the gestures wouldn’t be complete without the spicy middle finger.

The only thing he regretted was that he wasn’t able to upgrade the system before the Arcana Primis Cup.

Otherwise, Donner would’ve had a taste of defeat delivered by a literal middle finger gesture.

’Ahh...but that wouldn’t be good for my image, though...’ Hal shook his head, not noticing that his pretentiousness was getting slightly out of hand.

Continuing his workout session, Hal thought about his next steps.

The more efficient he was, the faster he would improve in combat and artifact crafting.

He had neglected the quests for quite a while due to the recent major events.

But now, he was ready for another long grind.

’Let’s see...quests...’
