The MCV connects each other and helps sharing some of the abilities, like 'Acceleration' and 'Colission'. {Gunner room, colission ram and Air cannon, are more like gimmicks that can only be equipped to the minibus as they're specially created for it.} The special alloy the MCV uses can expand, thus making it weaker while expanding. To help visualize think of a pizza dough. The more you work on it, the thinner it becomes in order to get a wider surface. The mining truck is considerably larger than the minibus, so even it they share the alloy, it can only give 50% protection. I hope I helped.
