But, they were siblings, at least in other people’s eyes.
Their parents would never agree to their coming together. Mother Zheng even held a private conversation with Zheng Lun some time back and from that moment on, Zheng Lun had not crossed the boundary or said anything inappropriate as a sister.
Zheng Lun was very grateful to the Zheng Family who had brought her up like their own daughter and she respected her mother who treated her so preciously. Since her childhood, she had never gone against her mother’s wishes.
If she were the real daughter of the Zheng Family, she would not have been so concerned. But she was adopted and that made the gratitude even heavier.
Zheng Lun had always been an obedient and timid person, and she had never done anything out of the ordinary apart from falling for Zheng Jing. She would rather upset herself than sadden her mother.
But falling for Zheng Jing was not something that Zheng Lun could possibly control.
She, herself, was not sure of the time when she started to be so dependent upon her brother and realized that his every movement made her heart skip a beat.
She was not a girl with strong willpower and could be fickle at times. But she had never been unsure about her feelings for Zheng Jing.
Their parents’ objection had made Zheng Lun push the love into the bottom of her heart, but that love never disappeared.
Same went for Zheng Jing. But he was psychologically stronger than Zheng Lun so nothing showed on his face when he was facing his parents at home.
They had made a promise – they would not get intimate. Holding hands, today, was already over the boundary for them.
Maybe it was because they were outside home and away from their parents’ supervision that Zheng Jing somehow could not control his emotions.
It was a rare occasion for Zheng Jing to be alone with Zheng Lun, anyways.
Zheng Jing took a deep breath, pressed down the impulse inside his heart and massaged Zheng Lun’s hand as he said gently, “I know about a cherry park with a great view. We can go there to pick the cherries. It is not nearby, though.”
Zheng Lun could not help but weaken when her fingers were carressed by his fingers. She felt as if a current was striking through her body.
She tried hard to press down the excitement and said softly, “Sure, I will go with you. I have never done cherry picking.”
Her voice sounded so gentle that Zheng Jing’s adam’s apple moved, and eyes turned heated.
He wanted to kiss her so badly. He wanted to taste her lustful lips, suck them and bite them softly!
But Zheng Jing chose to close his eyes and control himself.
He was, after all, a mature man who had managed to keep himself in check all this while.
Zheng Lun was not a silly woman. She could tell what he was thinking.
But he ended up controlling himself rather than kissing her!
Zheng Lun felt a bit disappointed, but soon she drove away the feelings of disappointment.
She did not have many expectations. She was already very satisfied that Zheng Jing could stay by her side and that they could maintain such a relationship.
At least, they were both in love with each other.
Zheng Jing started the engine and slowly drove the car out of Landscape Compound, heading towards the cherry park on the outskirts.
On the way there, Zheng Jing did not release Zheng Lun’s hand but held it tightly as if he feared losing her.
Zheng Lun did not move, either.
It was not an everyday thing that they could be so intimate with each other. She felt happiness spreading all over her heart.
When they reached the cherry garden, Zheng Jing parked the car and walked out with Zheng Lun.
The owner of the cherry park was a couple in their 50s. They had been planting cherry trees for dozens of years. The couple apparently knew Zheng Jing well and when they saw him coming hand in hand with a beautiful girl, they greeted him with a smile.
The man said, “Officer Zheng, welcome to our park with your girlfriend!”
When the word “girlfriend” was heard, both Zheng Lun and Zheng Jing got startled. Zheng Lun looked up at her brother who nodded with a calm look and said, “Thanks!”
He did not correct the man. He had accepted her as his girlfriend.
Zheng Lun was a bit nervous and shy. She was not used to speaking in front of outsiders, and was also afraid that their real relationship would be discovered later in the future and would be ridiculed.
She lowered her head and looked at the tip of her toes, fearing that the couple would remember what she looked like.
As if knowing the anxiety inside her heart, Zheng Jing brought her closer, trying to console her.
The woman showed great enthusiasm when she heard what Zheng Jing said. “Your girlfriend is very beautiful. I have run this cherry park for so many years and have never seen such a pretty girl. You both look so cute together. And that’s why, I will give you a 50% discount today. Officer Zheng Jing, only you will need to pay.”
The price of entering the park was 48 yuan per person, making it 96 yuan for a couple.
When Zheng Jing heard about it, he suddenly realized that all his money had been given to Zhao Anan and he only had a few bills left in his pocket after the taxi fare, enough only for one person.
Good that Zheng Lun was exempted from paying, otherwise he would have been unable to pay today.
Zheng Jing would have been very embarrassed if he had to delay the payment on the first date with his beloved girl.
Zheng Jing thanked the couple and then took Zheng Lun into the park.
The cherry park was located on the top of a hill occupying a large area. There were so many cherry trees that it’s boundary was not in sight.
It was a lovely day and the afternoon sun cast its shine upon the forest. The sunlight sprinkled through the green leaves and landed upon the brother and sister, making them feel warm.
Zheng Lun stayed close to her brother’s side.
It was very quiet in the cherry park and the air was inundated with the scent of cherries.
Zheng Lun found the place to be mesmerising, even more so because of the person whom she had come with.
Zheng Jing bent down and picked several cherries for Zheng Lun, every few steps he took.
“Let’s go inside and see if there are any sweeter fruits, since the ones on the boundary have been picked already.”
Seeing Zheng Lun’s slightly flushed face, he could not help but sound indulgent.
With the cherries in her mouth, Zheng Lun smiled at him brightly. “Sure, it is my first time, Brother, you can decide and I will follow. The cherries are so sweet, I definitely want more!”
