"Then what will you do? I don't want you to go hungry," An Qi frowned as she spoke, sounding a bit anxious.
"Don't worry, I still have a bunch of bee pupae, I won't starve," Lin Yifan answered.
"You're really going to eat bee pupae?" An Qi asked in surprise, finding it truly horrifying. She was having trouble accepting it.
"It looks disgusting, but it's actually delicious when you eat it. Many things can't be judged only by appearances, you have to try them to know whether they're gross or tasty; just like stinky tofu, it smells unappetizing, but once you taste it, you can't stop singing its praises," Yifan replied.
"Does everyone from your hometown eat this?" An Qi inquired curiously.
"We live off the land. You think country folk like us are all as rich as you, with exotic delicacies to eat every day? We grew up eating wild game from the mountains," Yifan answered.
Recalling the past brought a mix of bitterness and joy. Bitterness from having to go out to find wild game to eat, joy from playing happily.
Believe it or not, fun activities like stealing bird eggs, digging up sweet potatoes, catching small fish, and fishing for eels probably don't exist in the city.
"No way! I can't believe you eat that kind of thing," An Qi exclaimed in surprise.
If it were her, she would rather die than eat such a thing.
"What's wrong with it? It's edible and delicious once it's fried," Yifan countered. The delicacies of his hometown were not to be looked down upon.
"Fine! I'm lost for words. Since you want to eat it that much, go ahead, I won't stop you. Just don't kiss me after you've eaten it," An Qi laid down her terms in advance to avoid future discomfort.
"Don't resist so much, I believe that once you smell the delicious aroma later, you'll definitely start liking bee pupae as food," Yifan responded.
"No matter how tasty or delicious, I won't eat it," An Qi rejected outright, as if there was no room for negotiation.
"Then we'll wait and see," Yifan said, his lips curving up slightly. He was confident that he could make An Qi fall for this delicacy.
"We'll see about that. I don't believe I, An Qi, would eat bee pupae," An Qi retorted, her mouth pouting defiantly.
Afterward, Lin Yifan continued to feed An Qi honey until there was none left.
With a somewhat full stomach, An Qi's complexion grew rosier, and she no longer looked so feeble.
