Twelve tomahawks arced through the sky like enraged hornets, rebounding like boomerangs and gaining speed with each strike. Afterimages blurred like flying swords as they screamed back to Elian's hands—only to be launched again, harder.
Whimpers echoed, bones cracked, and blood spilled. Unable to resist the brutal metallic nightmares, the Snow Wolves trembled. Tens of them cast their mana into the air. Icicle spears 2 meters long appeared. Yet after using them to attack, nothing happened.
Like eggs on a concrete wall, the fragile projectiles shattered. Despite over hundreds of them slamming against Elian's armor, they couldn't even make him flinch. Only one option worked. And that was throwing their bodies at the black knight.
But the flying axes of death made surrounding him impossible. Each tomahawk could kill several wolves just from their blunt trauma. Which led to the current situation. Over a hundred wolves growled in concert. Their eyes focused on a sole figure.
Even now, he was striking back flying weapons going at the speed of sound. It got to the point that the impact began to create loud booms.
"What? There are hundreds of you! Fluffy had more spine? If you do not want to die, get out of my way!"
At that very second, a group of ten-meter wolves arrived. They much like fluffy had streaks along their manes only it came in different colors. Yet the words they said made Elian pause.
"Why have you come here, Breaker? The Edict of the Truthsong protects this land."
"Turn back. Your guild and family faces annihilation if you go against the Church."
"State your name and your Breaker Id, we will report it to the proper authorities."
Seriously? These are supposed to be wolves? They sound like overpaid managers.
Before Elian could reply, someone else did. A Snow Wolf Alpha who came from behind. Bianca was riding on her back with a solemn expression.
"Hollow, Fang, Third, did you know?"
The three Alpha wolves all gasped and furrowed their eyebrows.
"Whisper, why are you siding with them? Your Talent should be immune from the devices used by Humans," one of them asked in confusion.
But fluffy practically shrieked in reply.
"DO NOT CALL ME THAT! HOLLOW, DID YOU KNOW?!"
Elian gazed at Bianca then at Fluffy. She looked better but still seemed out of it.
"I am such a fool," Fluffy said softly. "I thought focusing on training was enough."
She looked down. "I never noticed the rot...What did the humans promise you three in exchange? Did anyone on the expeditions know that you were sending them to their deaths?"
At her rebuke one of the Alpha's lowered his body as he growled.
"Stop acting like wronged saint, Whisper. Deep down you knew. How did you think you survived up to now? The cores you have been eating? Those are all from the payment we received. Thanks to that, our numbers grew to what it is now! The Tyrant chose correctly!"
"Yeah! You are either a fool or a hypocrite! How do you think we gained mana cores without any expedition returning? Any sane wolf would have understood what happened! If you didn't' you are even stupider than you look!"
Fluffy gazed at her former pack in sadness. Her voice cracked as she continued.
"It seems like you all sold your pride as Nobles as Fralhame long before we came to Earth."
The biggest of the Alphas growled in anger.
"Stop your posturing, Whisper! Those who refuse to hold any responsibility have no right to criticize those who do. Your parents at least had the decency of pretending they cared! You are but a child! They died protecting you!"
Elian then felt the surrounding temperature plummet. Despite being in a frozen wonderland, Elian saw the very air began to freeze. He could even see his breath as white smoke.
"I have never belonged in this place. I only stayed because of my parent's wish for us to survive the crucible. Now, I break my oath to them in exchange for another. I will kill you all and cleanse the name of Fralhame even if I have to do it alone!"
Elian stepped forward. Coincidentally another tomahawk flew toward him. He smashed it away with all his might causing everyone to turn towards him. The sharp clang and the sonic boom that followed blew like a hurricane.
In that moment, the Snow Wolves all lowered their bodies and glared at Elian. But the boy did not even look at them. His eyes remained on his master.
Even the truly stupid could see Fluffy's emotions. And the freezing temperatures showed that one other felt exactly the same way. One even the Tyrants couldn't afford to provoke.
"Elian." Her sharp voice cut through all the noise
"Make them regret touching what's mine."
"Understood," Elian replied.
"Butcher them all to the last."
Like lightning, he threw his large greatsword towards the Alphas.
"EVADE!" one of them shouted. But few could even perceive it. Like a beast Elian's Onyx greatsword carved the Wolves into bloody pieces creating a trail of blood and guts.
In the same moment, the flying tomahawks in the skies suddenly exploded.
Like rain, the Living Metal fell back to the ground.
Then geysers of black liquid erupted from beneath the snow, flooding the battlefield in oily waves.
"W-What? What is going on?"
Hmm. Snakes lack power. If the only requirement is to stay connected to me, then can't I make wired automatons?
From the black sea then emerged a dozen ten-meter-tall metal wolves. Each had a long wire on its back that led to Elian.
"You control Snow Wolves? What the hell are you?"
"This power is on par with a Tyrant! So, he really was one?"
Their confusion was palpable. But Elian's ears picked up something more interesting.
"Master, may I please receive some grace?"
"What do you need, Fluffy?"
"Please let me fight with Sir Elian. I wish to rip out the throats of these traitors myself."
Bianca paused. Then nodded.
"You are far too weak. If you join Elian, he might kill you by mistake."
In an instant, Fluffy lowered her head, her ears drooping. But then her master continued.
"So I will fight with you."
Bianca stepped forward, her expression unreadable.
Then her body shone like a blue sun—and streaked into Fluffy like a falling star.
Fluffy screamed. Mana rampaged throughout her entire body.
"Bear it, Fluffy. Remember your rage!"
Three horns erupted from her skull. Ice sealed open wounds before they could bleed.
A second tail ripped out behind her, leaving a trail of blood and snow.
Then, the chaotic energies in Fluffy's body stabilized. Fluffy's limbs trembled. Yet the new beast radiating with power raised her head elegantly. Every motion radiated authority—and unrepentant contempt.
"System. Give me a scan," Elian said in excitement.
