She dumped her bag haphazardly onto the bed, picked up the phone and saw the caller ID display “Liangnian”. Her fingers trembled fiercely and hesitated for a long time before pressing the answer button. Then a familiar male voice came through the phone, “Haohao, why did it take you so long to answer the call? What were you doing?”
Shen Liangnian’s always gentle tone made Jing Haohao’s hard-won calmness waver again. Holding the phone, it took her a considerable amount of energy to reply with a calm voice, “I was just taking a shower.”
Even though Jing Haohao tried her best to disguise it, Shen Liangnian still detected something was off, “Haohao, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Your voice sounds strange.”
Jing Haohao’s hand gripping the towel tensed, her knuckles turning white. She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, then replied in a slightly softer tone, “I drank too much at the banquet tonight, my throat feels a bit uncomfortable.”
“I’ll go to the pharmacy and buy some medicine, then I’ll bring them over to you.”
In the past, Jing Haohao would definitely have nodded cutely and said “yes” with a happy heart, but now, her neck and chest were covered with love-bites. If Shen Liangnian came over and saw them, how would she explain?
