Mythology Rebooted Chapter 293

Wayne rode on his horse, barely holding back a chuckle, it was impossible to sneak away; he had to go through Shadowmare to summon Yuliya.

If there ever came a day, the Headless Knight would surely be aware, Yuliya’s perceived stealthiness was nothing but the Headless Knight turning a blind eye.

"Eh, how did it loop back to blondie again?"

After calming Yuliya down, Wayne had her hide the Sealing Book and asked Valkyrie for swordsmanship lessons upon returning home.

In the Giant City Ruins, his ability to slay the Golden Mage with a single stroke was not just because the Death Knight’s Vest System was powerful; the fundamental reason was his ever-improving swordsmanship.

The proportion of ambushes was insignificant, merely one percent, no more.

Valkyrie was a qualified Knight Teacher, a big sister who would respond to requests, never stingy with her knowledge; there were only students who couldn’t learn, none of her skills were selfishly hidden.

As Wayne gradually cultivated his skills and gained insights into swordsmanship, he noticed that the Dragon-Slayer Sword Technique Valkyrie taught him differed from what she taught Veronica.

The sword technique imparted to Veronica was biased towards females, with more operations in the finer details.

The swordsmanship Wayne learned discarded these fine details. The moves were wide and ferocious, primarily focusing on a "kill one thousand enemies at the expense of eight hundred of oneself". Many sword moves would be executed completely forgoing personal defense.

Faced with Wayne’s questions, Valkyrie’s answer was very simple: she said she was Armor; she took care of the defense and protection, and a Knight simply had to wield a sword and kill the enemy.

While Veronica continued to practice swordsmanship, Wayne ended the lesson half an hour early and took the car to pick up Chris from school.

The upperclassman had already prepared college textbooks. This knowledge corresponded to the "void" of the Silver Crucifix Stage and was an essential aspect of Wayne’s cultivation.

By the time the limousine returned from the girls’ academy, it was just in time for dinner.

"Master, there is a lady looking for you. She is in the living room, claiming her name is Mona and that she is your friend," the maid reported.

Wayne wondered with a hint of puzzlement,"It’s perfect timing, just around mealtime. Go prepare another set of utensils."

The maid nodded and left. Chris, following behind Wayne, curiously asked, "Who is Mona? I thought you hardly had any friends. When did you get a new one?"

Three consecutive questions, she was very curious.

Wayne heard hints of protectiveness in her tone and silently approved—no wonder it was he who managed to instigate such improper thoughts in his upperclassman through relentless efforts.

"Mona is an employee at the Detective Agency. You’re the accountant, so you should have seen her name."

Wayne puzzledly retorted,"Strange, I remember you have an excellent memory and never forget anything; how could you forget the name of a colleague?"

Chris, of course, remembered the name Mona and had even seen the resume. She was a mature and attractive big sister. Pretending not to know was merely out of curiosity about why she would visit.

Just as she was about to explain, seeing Wayne looking at her with a half-smile, she lowered her head in silence, pretending to search for ants on the ground.

Right, who Mona was and what she had to do with her was something that Veronica and Veronica should be concerned about, not her.

In the living room, Mona sat up straight, a cup of tea in front of her.

Opposite her, Veronica was on guard, stealing glances at Mona from time to time. Crimson lips, glasses, long legs, ample bust, and Wayne’s favorite stockings; this old woman must be up to no good, coming at this time.

All decked out, as if she were on the prowl!

Mona’s eyes twinkled with amusement; such an interesting little girl, all her thoughts were written on her face.

Veronica was a clerk at the Detective Agency. Relying on her identity as a wealthy alumna, she would skip work ever so often. Mona wasn’t often at the Detective Agency either, so the two rarely crossed paths.

Veronica didn’t know much about Mona except that she was a colleague skilled in detective work with a hundred percent completion rate on commissions. She was the ace of the Wayne Detective Agency.

Before joining the agency, Mona had conducted a background check on Wayne’s social circle, frequently complaining about not being able to get close to Wayne, precisely because these younger girls were too youthful.

Attractive and young, Heretics were just too annoying!

"Wayne, you’re back!"

Veronica bounced over to Wayne, hugged his arm and glared back at the uninvited Mona.

You’re blonde, not blonde, be nice, play nice with the kindred!

Wayne tried to pull his arm out, but the resistance was too strong, and he chose to just let it be,"Detective Mona, what brings you here? If it’s about that matter, let’s not bring it up."

"Boss, can we talk in private?"

Wayne was about to agree when he felt his arm tighten. Under pressure, he changed his mind,"Let’s have dinner first. I had the maid add another set of utensils, we’ll talk after."

After dinner, Mona accompanied Wayne into the study.

Veronica peered towards the stairs, feeling restless and uncomfortable, and said to Chris beside her,"Upperclassman, how can you be in the mood for tea when that woman has chased him all the way home?"

Chris choked on her tea at the remark; those words were as if she were the woman of the house.

Dabbing at the corner of her mouth with a handkerchief, she gently tapped Veronica on the head,"Don’t talk nonsense. Detective Mona is here for business, and besides... she has nothing to do with me, understand?"

Veronica gave her a disdainful look, letting the insinuation linger cruelly,"Fool your sisters all you want, but don’t deceive yourself. If you’re indifferent, why do you tutor him every day? I want to learn too; why have I never seen you teach me?"

Chris flushed, defensively proclaiming it’s wrong to sully someone’s reputation for no reason. She tutored because Wayne was a friend who had once saved her life, and it was embarrassing to refuse—which is why she did it every day. Then she repeatedly stressed the word ’friend,’ insisting their relationship was purely platonic, with no ulterior motives.
