During afternoon tea, Veronica received an invitation from next-door Dusa to make some snacks together at the number eight villa.
In the living room, where the sunlight was warm, a burly boy and a melancholic youth sat opposite each other, each with a serving of snacks in front of them when it was served.
Alex did not share his sister’s snacks, and neither did Wayne.
The former was well aware of his sister’s culinary skills and was content to suffer alone—no need to hurt more people; the latter was purely selfish, refusing to share the snacks with outsiders even if Veronica’s skills were mediocre.
Both plates were licked clean, and both sisters were very satisfied.

Dusa kicked Alex’ foot, who slowly opened his mouth, "Wayne, as allies, do you think it’s necessary for us to familiarize ourselves with each other’s strengths?"
Alex, indifferent by nature, gentle and elegant, the quintessence of a low-desire individual, Wayne could guess even with his toes that the suggestion to spar came from Dusa.

The conversation was a bit childish, but it fit their ’innocent’ personas, and being ladies, they avoided any savage remarks like ’my brother dares to eat shit.’
As the proposer of the spar, Alex briefly explained the rules: spar to the touch, don’t injure the friendship, but to arouse the competitive spirit, there needed to be a stake.
The loser would provide the winner with a piece of information about the Holy Maiden selection.
Wayne saw the number eight villa’s postman, and Dusa saw the number four villa’s postman; they both had connections higher up, so it was worth using the sparring chance to reveal some intel to each other.
It was all up to skill, and whoever wanted more information had to speak through strength.
Veronica gave Wayne a look that said, for the sake of a century-long friendship, he must win, and keep winning.
The Dragon Blood Girl’s desire to win was too strong.
Wayne shrugged his shoulders, warming up on the spot: "No Faith Magic and no weapons, Alex, is that really fair? It doesn’t seem very equitable to me."
Indeed, it wasn’t very fair.
Alex sheepishly smiled, acknowledging his sister’s demand was too overbearing, and said with a thick face, "Alright, you get to set the rules for tomorrow’s spar."
Being too honest for his own good, Wayne couldn’t help wanting to pick on him severely, and said with a smile, "Since you’re so confident, I’ll make the first move, alright?"
A shadow flickered before Alex’s eyes, and he quickly crossed his hands in front of his chest to defend, but a fist hit him square in the face. He was sent flying backward, straight out of the ring, disappearing into the trees behind.
Is this guy really human?
Dusa was slightly taken aback, and she began to speculate about the bloodline surrounding Wayne. According to the Frank District’s investigations, she gathered considerable information about Veronica, but for Wayne, there was almost nothing.
It was easy to investigate Veronica; before Hefei became the Windsor District High Priest, she was the head of the Frank District’s Scalpel Organization, and Dragon Blood made her fearsomely powerful.
The Frank District had Hefei’s records, and by following the trail, you could almost figure out everything about Veronica.
