The camera angle shifted, and the Divine Envoy fell into silence, holding the Twilight Deadlock without saying a word.
They simply couldn’t win, they couldn’t beat them at all.
"Out of so many people on the God-chosen Continent, why must it be Austin? What’s so great about him? In my opinion, the Dark Goddess was clearly tricked by his sweet talk. This guy has a real knack for deceiving women!"
Wayne brandished the Shadowmare, threatening again, "Today I’ll step back and send you to meet the Dark Goddess. Tell her, it’s either change the person, or not a single believer left."
"Change person? How could it be just changed like that, do you think the Twilight Deadlock is something to be trifled with, what do you think the Dark Knights are?" The Divine Envoy laughed infuriatingly.
"Aren’t Dark Knights just anyone who has hands?"
"The one who’s ignorant is you..."
Wayne muttered under his breath as he swung his sword to dissipate the surging deathly aura, gray shockwaves swept down, rolling and exploding, wantonly eroding the space around them.
The Divine Envoy clenched Twilight Deadlock, using darkness to devour death.
Even though he knew he was no match, he still persisted, unwilling to give up. His mission was to awaken Austin, even if it meant sacrificing his life.
Sword-wielding figures confronted each other in close combat, with a halo of dark light and death aura spreading everywhere.
With a clang of metal on metal, the Divine Envoy was overpowered by Wayne’s great strength, and the Twilight Deadlock was knocked into the air.
Wayne kicked the Divine Envoy away, leaped to catch the Twilight Deadlock, and with the oppressive aura of death, he imprisoned it, preventing its escape.
"It’s useless, even if you hand Twilight Deadlock to Austin, he isn’t a Dark Knight now; I can take it back whenever I want." The Divine Envoy calmly said.
"We’ll see about that!"
Wayne opened his jaw and started to laugh.
He dispelled the power of the Death Knight and planted Shadowmare beside him, and holding Twilight Deadlock above his head under the speechless gaze of the Divine Envoy, he looked as if he was about to transform.
How could he possibly transform!
The Divine Envoy was amused by Wayne’s ignorant and fearless action, "The Goddess chose Austin, he’s the only God-chosen, even if he’s unwilling to follow orders, and the Goddess selects another knight, that person won’t be you, you are already the Goddess of Death’s... her..."
Dark light surged and enveloped Wayne’s body, the black armor coiled around him.
The Dark Knight has descended!
The Divine Envoy seemed to be choked, like a jammed cassette tape, ’her’-ing for a long time without producing any conclusion, his vision filled with confusion, deeply troubled by one question.
Could the equation Death Knight = Dark Knight actually make sense?
By the time the Divine Envoy snapped back to reality, the Dark Knight was right before his eyes, and he was pierced through by the Twilight Deadlock just like Allen.
Wayne tried but couldn’t take Twilight Deadlock away from the Divine Envoy, nor could the latter take it from him, it seemed like the Divine Envoy was only targeting Austin, prepared but not adequately so.
Additionally, the Divine Envoy was also unable to fully harness the power of Twilight Deadlock, probably because the Dark Goddess had given him only partial authority to thwart Austin.
Well-intentioned, but what a pity to face someone who’s got hacks!
"Go back and tell the Goddess, if you can still see her, tell her, it’s either change the person, or the belief dies..."
Wayne gripped Twilight Deadlock tightly, absorbing the Divine Envoy’s energy and body, "I’ll keep my name, and I won’t change my seat, what I said, I’m the Goddess of Death’s God-chosen Knight!"
Darkness returned to darkness, and the Divine Envoy vanished at an astonishing speed.
"Why can you use Twilight Deadlock..."
"Could it be that you are the real God-chosen, and the Goddess sent me to guide you?"
The Divine Envoy couldn’t understand, he was all at sea, only able to perceive it as the Goddess being inscrutable, beyond his comprehension.
"Knight Lord, go to the Icebound Continent, that place needs the power of a Dark Knight!" The Divine Envoy clutched Wayne’s arm, the red glow in his eyes dimming, and then he vanished under the Twilight Deadlock’s blade.
As the Divine Envoy perished, the surrounding world began to collapse.
Wayne changed in an instant, donning the Death Knight’s Vest System, holding Twilight Deadlock, walked towards his own people.
His head was pounding, he had to think about how to make up a story.
