Wayne’s expression was grave; he really wasn’t joking. Austin could ignore Megan, but he couldn’t.

In a nutshell, if he changed the essence of the Princess’s life tonight, and she, insatiable, sought closeness with her faith, the two of them would definitely end up in bed.

Listening to this, Austin’s face darkened. It felt just like that previous time when he thought of the stories Wayne had fabricated about him and the Queen, with entirely consistent outcomes.

Austin suspected that Wayne had set this up in advance, but Wayne immediately denied it, claiming he had no interest in the Princess, or he would have transformed her that very night.

After a long silence, Austin, seeing that nearly half an hour had gone by, said solemnly, "What about the Icebound Continent, three God-chosen Knights aren’t enough to guard the seal, you as the Death Knight must go."

"You missed one; I have also recently become the heir to the Sun Knight."
Austin’s face twitched. So many heirs; it was bound to come out sooner or later. How would he explain it then? Even the entire Lando Family, not to say Windsor, couldn’t fill this hole.
Wayne also had a headache and decided to take it one step at a time.
Austin continued, "I haven’t awakened, so I can’t go to the Icebound Continent. It would be no use if I went. Since I haven’t awakened, you can take my place."
"Promissory notes; I can write you a few more of those."
"Great, willing to trade even your daughter to save your own life; your heart must be black," Wayne said with disdain.
Austin’s face turned steely; he had no intention of selling his daughter. It was just about having too many debts to worry about. He was voluntarily taking the fall, sending Wayne to the Icebound Continent in his place.
Regardless of the actual relationship between the five Goddesses, the Icebound Continent now gathered three God-chosen of the Life Alliance. As a Dark Knight yet to awaken, he would skulk among the Knights’ ranks, apprehensive as a minion. Once the matter was resolved, he’d surely be sliced by the three God-chosen.
Wayne was different; Austin believed he could escape this calamity.
"I can take your place, but if I do, I’ll have to join the battle riding Megan."
Wayne looked towards the study’s door: "Megan, can I be your Knight?"
Megan’s voice came from outside the door, decisive and unwavering.
Wayne spread his hands, indicating his inability to help, "You see, it’s not that I don’t want to help you, but Megan isn’t cooperative."
At that, Wayne’s expression darkened, "You are a Knight chosen by the Dark Goddess herself, she won’t just let you be. Attacks like tonight’s will continue. You must find a way to embrace pain; you’re out of time. Even for their sake, you must become a Dark Knight!"
Austin gave a bitter smile, "I’ve been trying to accept pain, but I have a limit; my body can’t take any more of it."
If there’s a human limit, then stop being human!
Wayne’s eyebrows rose, pondering. What if he changed Austin’s essence of life and granted him evolution?
