Hearing this, Shin narrowed his eyes. Something's off. This can't be good.
"Spit it out. What do you want? Tell me now before I leave. And as for dinner, forget it."
He'd rather eat Mikoto's cooking. Nawaki was broke—whatever he could afford wouldn't be worth Shin's time.

He wanted the money upfront. He was afraid Nawaki would try to stiff him.
"I wouldn't cheat you," Nawaki muttered under his breath, then reluctantly handed the money to Shin.
The funds had just been allocated by the Land of Fire Daimyo. The Daimyo knew that without Konoha, his own position would be unstable, so he quickly provided the funds.
"I've received the money. Now, get everyone out of Konoha. Otherwise, you'll be responsible for the consequences." Shin counted the money.
