Stussy stood there, looking utterly defeated, her eyes squeezed shut as she braced for the end. But after a long moment, nothing happened. Shin hadn't killed her.
"Don't worry, I'm not going to kill you right now. But whether you survive in the long run? That's entirely up to you." Shin had no plans to kill Stussy, but he wasn't about to let her off the hook that easily either.
Feeling a surge of hope, Stussy's eyes lit up.
"What's the price?" Stussy was, after all, the Queen of the Pleasure District. She knew how things worked.
"The price is simple. You'll gather Devil Fruits for me. I don't care what type—"
Shin gave Stussy her mission.
"Collect Devil Fruits?" Stussy frowned. She knew this wouldn't be a walk in the park. Devil Fruits weren't exactly lying around everywhere.
The rare ones especially—those were nearly impossible to get. Even with unlimited money, you couldn't guarantee finding them. Sometimes a single Devil Fruit could destroy an entire pirate crew from the inside out. That's how much power a strong Devil Fruit held.
"You have a problem with that??" Shin asked, seeing her furrowed brow.
"If you don't agree, that's fine too. I won't make things difficult for you." Even though Shin said he wouldn't make things difficult for her, Stussy wasn't about to take that risk. Trusting his word completely? That would be stupid.
"Alright, I will do my best to collect Devil Fruits," Stussy said, nodding.
A faint smile crossed Shin's face. If Stussy had refused, he wouldn't have bothered with her. She wasn't worth the effort. But that didn't mean the others would let it slide. The Kuja Pirates weren't just him alone.
"As for the Five Elders, you can handle them yourself," Shin said with a dismissive wave, signaling for Stussy to leave.
Stussy didn't say another word. Getting angry earlier had been stupid. Now she understood the situation and knew what she had to do. She turned and walked away.
Once she was gone, Olvia looked at Shin and asked, "You're really just letting her walk away like that? Aren't you worried she'll back out on the deal?"
"Do I need to be? As long as she remembers what happened to Big Mom, she'll know what to do."
Shin chuckled softly. As one of the underworld's top players, Stussy shouldn't be an idiot. And if she wasn't an idiot, she'd know exactly what she could and couldn't get away with.
Of course, if Stussy really was that stupid, then he'd be happy to educate her. Though by that point, he wouldn't be teaching her how to be smart—he'd be teaching her how to be dead.
"Those Five Elders are becoming a real pain in the ass. When I get around to it, I'll pay the Holy Land a visit and show them what's what." The idea of putting the Five Elders in their place was definitely appealing to Shin.
He just wasn't motivated to act right now—but once he finally decided to move, it would be too late for them to do anything about it.
"Only you would have the guts to say something like that," Robin couldn't help but comment.
"The climate on this island is nice. Let's stay here for a while." Shin smiled and said. As for the Five Elders, he was too lazy to mention them for now.
"Yes, I also think this island is very nice. Why don't we occupy it?" Hancock suggested.
"It's just an uninhabited island. There's not much point in occupying it." Shin shook his head slightly.
This place had perfect conditions, but the island was crawling with dangerous wildlife—no way any humans could settle here.
There were tons of islands throughout the One Piece world: Beautiful environments overrun by deadly beasts. And these weren't your average animals either.
Some of these creatures could go toe-to-toe with a Vice Admiral, maybe even stronger. What sane person would try to live somewhere like that?
It would be suicide. Sure, you could try to clear them out, but why bother? The cost wasn't worth it, and you'd probably lose people in the process. Never underestimate these beasts—some of them are just as smart as humans.
After staying on the island for several days, Shin lay on the beach, sunbathing, feeling very comfortable.
Hancock sat beside him, her eyes fixed on him.
"Hancock, you know, if you keep staring at me like that, you're going to make me blush," Shin said, a teasing note in his voice.
"I just like looking at you."
Hancock continued to stare at him, even draping herself over him.
"Alright, have it your way." Shin couldn't help but smile.
"Shin-sama, I found a fruit in the sea." Shirahoshi's voice came, and then she emerged from the sea.
"A Devil Fruit?" Shin looked at the fruit in her hand. It was a Devil Fruit.
"From the looks of it, this is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. Just can't tell which one it is."
Shin stood up and walked over with Hancock to examine the fruit. He'd studied the Devil Fruit encyclopedia that Olvia had compiled, but this one wasn't in there.
"An unknown Devil Fruit. It's either unrecorded, or no one has ever eaten it."
Shin stared at the Devil Fruit. Should he find someone to eat it and figure out what it did? If he already knew the fruit's power, he probably wouldn't care much. But seeing an unknown Devil Fruit ? He couldn't help being curious.
"Looks like your luck is really good, Shirahoshi."
Shin patted her little head and couldn't help but say. Devil Fruits were quite precious and hard to come by. Shirahoshi had found one just by swimming in the sea.
Shirahoshi smiled at Shin, very happy with his praise.
"Let's go, let's go find Olvia and see if she knows what this Devil Fruit is."
Shin took Shirahoshi and Hancock and went to find Olvia.
"Olvia, Shirahoshi found a Devil Fruit in the sea. See what it is." Shin called out to Olvia.
"Let me take a look—" Olvia was equally curious.
After all, Shin had become quite an expert on Devil Fruits. If there was one even he couldn't identify, that was definitely intriguing.
Robin, overhearing their conversation, also came over to examine the mysterious fruit.
"Judging by the pattern, it's a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, but I've never seen any record of a Devil Fruit with this pattern..."
Olvia looked at it carefully for a long time, but she couldn't figure out what it was.
