During the day, Konoha warmly received the Cloud Shinobi delegation and conducted preliminary discussions on the alliance conditions.
By the end of the day, both sides had agreed to sign the alliance agreement the next morning.
As night fell, many villagers, optimistic about the prospect of peace and prosperity from the alliance, slept soundly. But little did they know, a storm was brewing.
That night, Guts sat on the wooden floor of his courtyard corridor, eyes lifted to the full moon. Hinata, having played with him all day, was fast asleep, exhausted.
"Hinata is with me now. Do those Cloud Shinobi idiots really have the guts to pull something? If they do... this might be interesting," Guts muttered to himself, a dangerous glint in his eyes as his Observation Haki detected suspicious movements.
By dawn, chaos erupted in the village.
News spread like wildfire—a member of the Cloud Shinobi envoy had attempted to abduct Hyuga Neji, the son of Hyuga Hizashi from the branch family.
The intruder was killed by Hizashi during the attempt. Now, the Cloud Shinobi were making a scene at the Hokage building.
Kurenai burst into Guts's home to relay the news.
"Hahaha! They tried to take Neji instead? These Cloud Shinobi are seriously dumb," Guts laughed, shaking his head in amusement.
He had sensed the intruder the night before but chose not to act, curious to see what nonsense they'd try.
Hinata, sitting nearby with sleepy eyes, tugged on Guts's sleeve. "Sensei Guts... what happened to Neji-oniisan?"
Kurenai, exasperated, snapped, "Are you seriously laughing? Tsunade-sama is stalling for time at the Hokage building. This could spark a war, and you think it's funny?!"
"Oh, come on. This is the best entertainment I've had in weeks. You take care of Hinata, I'll go deal with this mess," Guts grinned and disappeared in a flash.
At the Hokage building, Fourth Raikage's voice thundered through the hall.
"We came in good faith to form an alliance, and you kill one of my guards? I demand an explanation!"
Tsunade's fists were clenched. Her patience was wearing thin.
"Oh? You want an explanation?" a voice cut in.
Something small flew through the air and smacked the Fourth Raikage in the face, then dropped to the floor, spinning.
... It was scotch tape.
No one knew what to say. But mentally, everyone agreed: "A decent explanation."
Furious, the Raikage shouted, "Who did that!?"
"It's me. Guts. The guy who killed your daddy," Guts said, stepping forward with a smirk.
Ignoring the Raikage's glare, he looked at the body of the would-be kidnapper. "Who handled this?"
Hyuga Hizashi stepped forward. "It was me. I had no choice—"
"Spare me the explanation. I don't care," Guts waved him off.
Then he turned to the Cloud Shinobi. "So? What do you want now?"
Yugito Nii, calm and composed, replied, "This situation demands sincerity from Konoha. Otherwise, the Fire Country may no longer deserve its title as leader among the Five Great Nations."
"Oh?" Guts drew out the word.
He struck the Fourth Raikage square across the face. The force nearly knocked the man over.
Everyone froze in disbelief.
Even the Raikage stood stunned.
"Sorry, my hand was itchy. Hope that explanation works for you," Guts said casually.
"YOU BASTARD!" the Raikage roared, lunging forward with a punch.
But Guts tilted his head slightly. The punch missed by a hair.
With a flick of his arm, Guts countered...
The Raikage went flying, crashing through the wall of the Hokage building and several others beyond it.
Yugito Nii and the Cloud Shinobi stared in stunned silence.
"Capture them all," Guts ordered.
Instantly, Might Guy, Anko, and Uchiha Shisui sprang into action. Shisui's Sharingan locked onto Yugito Nii, instantly subduing her.
Namikaze Minato, a second late to react, zipped in with Flying Thunder God and sealed off the rest.
Meanwhile, Guts appeared behind the downed Raikage, kicked him down again, then pinned him.
One foot on the Raikage's neck, one on his wrist, he twisted the man's arm behind his back and sat on him like a smug executioner.
"Your daddy died at my hands, and you're even weaker than him. How the hell did you think this was going to end?"
Then, chuckling darkly, he stomped the back of the Raikage's head. Twice.
"Tell me... where do Cloud Shinobi grow such dumb brains? I'm genuinely curious."
