Naruto: Starting with Infinite Chakra Chapter 35

It had to be said—his system was incredibly reliable.

Whatever he lacked, the system provided.

The Universal Poison Seal, classified under medical ninjutsu, was practically equivalent to an S-rank jutsu.

Its only drawback was that it couldn't be used on others.

Still, if he ever encountered Chiyo or Hanzō, it would undoubtedly leave them astonished.

Whether it was Chiyo or Hanzō, their poisons had been the bane of Konoha's shinobi.

During the Second Shinobi War, countless shinobi fighting in the Land of Rain had fallen victim to Hanzō's poison gas.

Only Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru had survived, earning them the title of the Legendary Sannin.

As for Chiyo, during the Third Shinobi War, she had concocted numerous poisons that wreaked havoc on Konoha's forces.

If not for Tsunade's unparalleled talent in medical ninjutsu and her ability to swiftly create antidotes, Konoha's losses would have been catastrophic.

In the chaos of battle, poison attacks from enemy shinobi were often deadly.

It could be said that poison was one of the most terrifying weapons in the world of shinobi.

But now, with this technique, no poison could harm him. Coupled with his Sage Body's regenerative capabilities, he was nearly invincible—as long as no one destroyed his brain in a single strike.

"Extract."

Jiraiya's voice was calm.

"Ding! Extraction successful," the system responded.

In an instant, a flood of information poured into Jiraiya's mind. Within seconds, he mastered the near-S-rank jutsu.

Jiraiya didn't rest just yet. Instead, he headed to the bathroom for a hot soak before finally lying down to sleep.

...

"Damn brat... awakening a bloodline limit and ruining my life. I can't even go home or sleep in my own bed with my wife anymore. Damn it!"

Not far from Jiraiya's home, hidden in the dense branches of a tree, a masked ANBU member with a rabbit-like face mask muttered bitterly.

Right now, his wife was probably entertaining other ANBU members, showing them her... hospitality.

Meanwhile, here he was, stuck monitoring Jiraiya.

"If I hadn't learned that cursed Hiding with Camouflage Technique, I wouldn't be in this mess," he sighed, lamenting his life choices.

"Has Jiraiya shown any new abilities recently?"

The sudden voice startled the rabbit-masked ninja. He turned around to see Danzo, who had appeared behind him without a sound.

"Reporting to Danzo-sama: I haven't seen Jiraiya use any new abilities. However, he did visit the Senju Clan compound yesterday morning and returned only a short while ago. What happened during that time, I couldn't find out," the rabbit-masked ninja replied respectfully.

The Senju Clan might have lost much of its former influence, but ANBU members weren't allowed to monitor them without the Hokage's explicit permission. Even approaching their compound was strictly prohibited.

Danzo nodded. "Starting today, you'll no longer be monitoring Jiraiya. Someone else will take over."

"Thank you, Danzo-sama!"

The rabbit-masked ninja's voice was filled with relief. Finally, he could go home and be with his wife.

"Don't get ahead of yourself. I'm not done." Danzo's voice was cold. "You have a new mission. Take Team D and head to the Land of Rain immediately. Find out how many shinobi from the Land of Wind have entered the Land of Rain, and, if possible, determine their purpose."

The rabbit-masked ninja froze, his relief turning to despair. This assignment sounded far worse.

If his wife had already been "generous" while he was stationed near Konoha, he couldn't imagine what she'd do during his extended absence in another country.

"Team D is already assembled and waiting at the village's west gate. You're to depart immediately," Danzo added.

"And don't worry about your wife. We'll... take good care of her," he said with a faint smirk.

The rabbit-masked ninja wanted to cry but knew better than to argue. Reluctantly, he asked, "Danzo-sama, may I at least return home briefly before departing for the mission?"

"The mission is urgent. You must leave now." Danzo's tone was final.

Of course, Danzo had no intention of letting the ninja return home. His wife was likely hosting guests at that very moment, and allowing him to go back would disrupt... ANBU morale.

As the leader of Root, Danzo couldn't let such distractions threaten the cohesion of his operations.

Left with no choice, the rabbit-masked ninja resigned himself to his fate. Silently, he vowed that once this mission was over, he'd repay the favor by visiting someone else's home.

With a heavy heart, he activated the Body Flicker Technique and disappeared into the night.

"Let's hope he doesn't awaken something useless," Danzo mused to himself, shifting his thoughts back to Jiraiya.

Danzo's true hope was that Jiraiya would awaken a powerful bloodline limit—something worth stealing.

In the original timeline, Danzo was practically a researcher. He had secretly experimented on countless bloodline limits in pursuit of power, and his efforts had borne fruit. The Sharingan embedded in his arm and the Hashirama cells in his body were proof of his success.

As a civilian-born ninja, Jiraiya was an easy target. Killing him and taking his body for research would be a simple matter.

As for Hiruzen Sarutobi, Danzo had his own ways of dealing with him.

"Don't disappoint me, Jiraiya," Danzo thought coldly.

If Jiraiya awakened a useless bloodline, Danzo wouldn't waste his time. But if it was something extraordinary, Jiraiya's fate would be sealed.

Before long, another ANBU operative arrived to replace the rabbit-masked ninja.

"Keep a close eye on Jiraiya. The moment he uses any special abilities, report to me immediately," Danzo instructed.

"Yes, Danzo-sama," the new NINJA replied dutifully.

Satisfied, Danzo used the Body Flicker Technique to leave.

Watching Danzo disappear, the new ANBU operative couldn't help but feel envious.
