Not only did the rats swarmed inside the Empire Building. It also invaded the dormitory and residency building opposite of them.
Xiao Cao and the others scrambled to the upper floors.
"Brother! Quickly dragged that sofa and that fridge over here! They are trying to get in!"
"These f*cking rats are so strong! The door is about break!"

Xiao Cao saw one of the rats managed to sneak in and had bitten their leader on his ankle. A big chunk of his flesh was torn off. Blood gush out from the wound.
The other people quickly pushed the sofa to the door and grabbed their weapons to kill it.
The rat let go of its prey's ankle and attacked the people carrying weapons.
One of them got bit in their hands and the other on his right cheek.
"Ah! Ah!"
They tried to throw in off but the damn rat is strong and heavy.
"Bloody Rat! I'm going to kill you!" The latter wielded his knife at the rat.
Xiao Cao tremblingly grabbed a large pot from the kitchen and slammed it down on the rat and sat on the bottom of the pot, trapping the rat in place.
Only did everyone get a breath.
However, it was not for long.
The rat in the pot started slamming its body on the pot and the rats outside also started to bang on the door.
Bam. Bam. Bam.
Everyone's heartbeat raced fast falling into a harmony with the sounds.
They searched for a flashlight in the unit. They aimed it at the door and once could see black hairy tails entering the gaps on the door.
"Anyone! Do something!"
The leader saw the dire situation they are in and push someone to the door.
"Leader! Don't push me! I don't know what to do!"
"Useless!"
Just then, the sounds stopped and they heard something else.
Bang.
"Is that a gunshot?"
"Wait, is someone from the military coming here!"
That spelled trouble for them.
Someone carefully opened the curtains in the terrace. He peered out and when he saw the small fire and spark in the midst coming from the road leading to the next building, he quickly told the others.
"There's something there!"
There was another round of gunshots.

In the Residence Building, everyone climbed to the stairs of fourth floor's staircase.
Nanzhi was sure there was no one in this building. She had been observing for a few days and only the dormitory building next had people.
Thus, she decided it to be the grinding spot for EXP.
Nanzhi took something out of her pockets toss it on the ground.
Hei Qian turned on the lights.
The rats caught the smell of peanuts and bits of bighead carp meat, rushed to the stairs.
Some of the rats tried to climb on the rails and baluster of the stairs but they were coated with vegetable oil and the rats were unable to climb all the way and dropped to the ground.
"The first wave is coming!" Bingwen shouted.
"Be careful." Lin Weihao whispered to Nanzhi before picking his rifle.
Nanzhi nodded.
"Miss Lu, you're too close to the staircase, how about going behind me for cover." Bingwen said.
"It's okay." Nanzhi took a deep breath and pulled the trigger.
Bingwen was still worried but afterwards his worries turned to amazement.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
The sounds of gunshot echoed in the building.
Bullets showered like rain and the rats fell one by one.
Bingwen was able to see some of the rats were killed by headshots and more than half of it was coming from their Sister-in-law's rifle.
Hei Qian, squatting near the light, was also considerably stunned.
Did their sister-in-law acquire training before because she is very skilled with guns!
"Don't stare at her and focus." Lin Weihao said in a low voice.
Bingwen and Hei Qian realized that they were distracted and quickly started firing as well.
Nanzhi couldn't spare the two her attention because her mind was bombarded by notifications of EXP.

Rats coming from that side.
"Move up!" Nanzhi quickly said.
Everyone rushed to the stairs.
Hei Qian didn't notice a wood on the way and slipped.
He was nearly caught by a rat. Nanzhi and Lin Weihao quickly responded and covered his escape.
At the sixth floor staircase, Nanzhi hurriedly set up the plank boards coated with thick layer of brown syrup.
The rats smelling the scent of the bait in the plank boards, jumped inside but once they landed they found out they couldn't get out.
The syrup stuck to their skin and the more they struggled, the more they sunk in, serving as a rat glue.
"Squeak! Squeak!"
Nanzhi and the others used this opportunity to finish those who were caught.

This routine continued for more than two hours and until they reached the eight floor. The number of the rats was reduced to half.

The moment Bingwen and Hei Qian drank the juice they felt they have regained a portion of their lost energy.
Lin Weihao also smiled. Good stuff.
After replenishing her strength, Nanzhi continued.
