NBA: Journey To Become Unplayable. Chapter 57

"Hey, what the hell was that?!"

Right then, all five Morgan State players were staring at Lin Yi like they'd just seen a ghost. He'd just cooked up a silky-smooth series of dribble moves—and if that was not enough, got a block and set up Curry for a three.

Lin cooked Moss again. The guy was in no man's land.

The whole move was clean and fluid—it made even their star player, Babis Moss, look lost.

"But Moss is a guard," a fan muttered.

Yeah, well… Lin Yi was seven feet tall with a freakish wingspan. And the way he just moved? Not normal.

The rim shook. Morgan State's basket was crying for help.

Their fans were stunned into silence. That fierce, rowdy war-chant they're known for? Now it sounded like someone let the air out of a balloon. Just sad and wheezy.

"No way, no way, no way…", the commentator sounded off in surprise.

The five Morgan State players watched in disbelief as Steph Curry casually dribbled up court, hit 'em with that smooth behind-the-back into a pull-up jumper beyond the arc.

Bro, is he seriously pulling from nine meters out?

There were still 20 seconds left on the shot clock. Why the rush? Who hurt the man?

Hell no. But logic doesn't apply when you're talking about Steph.

Morgan State's squad looked like their souls just left the building.

Their fans? Dead quiet.

Even their cheerleaders looked dumbfounded.

"This game's a freakin' tidal wave," Kenny Smith mumbled.

"They didn't just score—they erased Morgan," Barkley said, running out of words for once.

The Wildcats' crowd? Straight-up losing it.

Barely five minutes in, and Davidson had already dropped 18 points. For college basketball? That's blazing.

"Yo, Yao! Your little bro's a freakin' baller!" Shane Battier laughed.

Ron Artest squinted at Lin like he was analyzing game film and threw his two cents. "If I were guarding him..., I'd force him baseline. Make him spin out the paint."

T-Mac, even while sidelined, just smiled and whistled. "I like that Curry kid. Pure shooter."

Yao Ming accepted all the praise with a smile. Watching Lin and his partner Curry, he was already cooking up ideas.

"If we get Lin to the Rockets? I'll slide to power forward, no problem. That lateral quickness? Man, we could shut down any pick-and-roll." Yao muttered.

"Nice," LeBron said while nodding his head from behind his sunglasses. Nobody knew whether he was talking about Steph or Lin. Probably both.

"Stephen's on fire today!" Sonya Curry beamed.

"That's my boy," Dell Curry said proudly, pulling her in closer.

Seth Curry was going crazy with the shouts.

"Big bro's cookin' today!" Sydel Curry elbowed Ayesha. "Tell the truth—you promised him something special if he won, didn't you?"

Ayesha smiled mysteriously.

Over on the Wildcats' bench, Steph was beaming.

"Alright, let's switch it up," Coach McKillop said, eyeing his two stars. He didn't want to burn through his best plays this early in the tournament. They had more tricks in the bag.

Lin and Steph nodded. Time to mix it up.

Coming out of the timeout, Moss knocked down a three.

Still early, still time.

Barkley and Smith leaned forward, sensing something.

Steph brought the ball up. The team settled into a new formation. Lin slid down low.

"Yo... they're running a low-post set," Barkley said, stunned.

"Great. Good to have variety in offence. Gotta keep the defense guessing," Kenny added.

Lin Yi could play inside. Everyone knew that. But he didn't like to. Even when he battled Blake Griffin, it was never through post-ups.

Davidson? They ran motion, pick-and-roll, and transition.

But now? The most update n0vels are published on novelFɪre.net

Ball went to Lin. Morgan State's big man, Delson, 6'10" and solid... looked up at Lin, determined not to let the guy have a bucket.

He waved for the double-team.

Fine. You wanna slow it down? We'll bring the heat.

But Lin saw it coming.

As the defensive help came in, he palmed the ball like a grapefruit as the Wildcats' off-ball screen fired off like clockwork.

Davidson ran it back again. Same play. Same result. Steph was now 3-for-4 from deep.

"Okay, this ain't your grandma's post-up," Barkley said jovially.

"Yeah, not just posting to score," Smith added. "Wildcats are using Lin to collapse the D and pop it to Curry."

Morgan State? Completely rattled.

They looked at their coach.

Seeing the struggle, the coach called a timeout.

He relayed instructions to back off from collapsing the D, and for Delson to put up physical pressure on Lin when in the post.

Next possession—no double team. Delson tried to enter the zone and put up a fight, but Lin had other ideas.. A quick spin past Delson into a reverse layup. Easy bucket.

Too quick. Too tall. Too much.

Davidson was breezing.

Back in the booth, Barkley and Smith were busy dissecting plays for the viewers

Because no matter what Morgan State did—double, switch, collapse or not—it all led to two terrifying result:

Lin having a buffet in the post courtesy of certain big's suffering.

Steph Curry. Wide open. Again. and again. and again.

It looked like the Bears were getting the night night treatment.
