Netori: Stealing The Hero's Party! Chapter 723

The nun in white, she appeared in front of the saint killer yet again. She leaned against the mossy walls and stared at him in quiet, her face covered with a veil. Something was brewing in her head, and that very same thought had brought a smile to her lips. The killer, on the other hand, remains seated on the ground, panting with a fever from having poisoned himself intentionally.

"You tried to poison your blood so you could poison the general..." With a smirk on her face, the nun slowly lowered herself into squatting with her back scraping against the mossy walls. "Too bad, he’s immune. Besides, did you really think his minions wouldn’t purify the blood?"

Slowly turning his head towards her, the killer chuckled weakly.

"You’re telling me I ate the dark moss for nothing?" Shaking his head with a crazed smile, the killer lowered his head slightly. "I think I knew that it wouldn’t work, but I had to try."

"You wanna kill him?" The nun asked in a whisper.

Lifting his head again, the killer looked in her eyes and nodded without thinking even for a second. Laughing behind sealed lips, the nun fell quiet before she began humming curiously. Pressing a finger under her chin, she wandered through thought with her eyes moving about rampantly as if she was reading.

"And what then? You think once you escape this place, you can get back to your world so easily?" She asked, lowering herself completely on the wet ground.

Her clothes quickly soaked up the dampness, turning the underside of her attire a muddied green. Eyeing the change for a few seconds, the killer hissed a sigh and responded.

"No, you won’t, you can’t even escape from this place." The nun shot right back, dismissing his assertion immediately.

"Lady, there’s been no jail cells that could hold me before, and I doubt this one’s gonna change anything." The man replied, but the nun showed no confidence in his claims.

"Or how about this? I help you and you help me," lowering her veil, the nun looked into the killer’s eyes, "Become loyal to the general, stay close to him. Be my eyes for when I’m gone for another plane, and in return, I’ll find a way to get you back home."

Broken, the man stared at her, unsure whether she could even back her claims. But the prospect of escaping was getting slimmer and slimmer, and from what he’d heard, it didn’t sound like he would have to work for her for all that long.

"What do you even want me to do?"

Smiling at his interest, the nun explained further.

"Otherworlders are trouble. You may not realize this yet, but your very existence here is a problem," poking a finger against the man’s chest, she added. "It disturbs the heavenly order, it disturbs the gods from all across the timelines, it disturbs the demon lord’s revival, and since I do not want another prospecting Nightsilver for when my lord rises again, I want you gone before that happens."

Nothing of what she said made any sense to the killer; even so, listening carefully, he allowed her to sell him the case.

"And unlike the general here, my task is to ensure that my lord’s army spreads throughout this world and not just this little region. So be my eyes while I’m gone, witness the slaughter that will be brought forth from the coming war, and whether the general wins it or not, I’ll send you back to your home world, and it will feel like all of this was nothing but a bad nightmare."

Her words sounded too good to be true, and the feeling that she was hiding something wouldn’t leave the killer’s mind.

"You’re hiding something."

"Of course I am, but why do you care if you’d be long gone before I do anything?"

"That’s right, look out for yourself, Morgan. You’re not needed in this world. Nightsilver’s already here, and we don’t need another one."

"What does that even mean?" Morgan asked, panting as his lungs felt like they were collapsing.

"Just shortening the list for the end of the world." Her words yet again confused Morgan.

But this time, he didn’t ask another question. Instead, keeping his eyes on the nun, he watched her get up and extend a hand towards him.

"I offer you freedom, the same as my master did to me once. Do not waste this opportunity with doubts or hesitation..." Staring at the nun’s face, Morgan thought about what to do next. He was tired, and with no way of escaping on his own, he lowered his gaze and accepted the offer.

Grabbing the nun’s hand, he picked himself up. The shackles broke in an instant as he did so, and all injuries, even the poison in him, were cured. Feeling a wave of comfort washing over him, he placed a hand on his chest and checked on himself. But before he could come up with a conclusion, the nun drew his attention with a few words.

"You have my blessings, otherworlder. No god can prevent you from going back home, I’ll make sure of it once this coming war is over." Pulling her hand away with a smile, the nun gestured for Morgan to follow her outside. "Now, let me take you to the general. I will explain what he needs to know. In the meantime, you remain quiet, alright?"

Nodding back at her, the killer followed her closely through the dark stone corridor. Staring at her back, he knew that the woman had something else in mind, that she was plotting something, but with no real clue what that was, all he could do was follow her command, temporarily.

"Oh, and by the way," right as the two reached the end of the corridor with a rustic door, the nun turned her head towards Morgan and said. "If the general survives the war, that bullet in your gun should be able to kill him thanks to my blessing."

"What? I thought you were working with him..."

"You thought wrong, because if he wins this war, the gods win, and there would be no revival for my lord. Not anymore." Holding that same smile, the nun pushed in the rusty door and invited Morgan into a whole new world of confusion and disorder. Lucky for him, however, he wouldn’t have to live in it for long.
