In the lobby of Building One, everyone was gathered together. The atmosphere was weird. Hua Luo frowned deeply. He wanted to say something, but in the end, he held his tongue.
With his hands on his lap, Fatty licked his lips. “Is that… all?”
“What more do you want?” Wei Jingting hugged his chest and huffed, “Will you be satisfied only when you hear that the ghost has killed me?”
Fatty looked awkward. He explained, “Of course not.”
After they heard what happened to Wei Jingting, even the veteran players had their faces darkened. This was horrifying. The ghost could move through recordings to kill people. The issue of the ghost had to be clarified, but everyone was more concerned about how Wei Jingting managed to survive. Even though no one had been instantly killed in their rooms, all the travellers thought that this was abnormal.
“Do… you feel anything strange?” Chu Jiu whispered. She was on Fatty and Jiang Cheng’s side. Chu Jiu squeezed in the middle between them.
Wei Jingting stopped to think. He suddenly whispered, “Now that you mention it, there is something strange. When I woke up this morning, my stomach ached.”
Liu Guo quickly pressed, “What kind of pain? Can you be more specific?”
“It’s like light food poisoning. I found two pills in the cupboard. I felt better after taking them.” Wei Jingting scratched his chin. “It’s probably related to the spicy crawfish I had the day before.” The medicine wouldn’t work if this were the ghost’s handiwork. Wei Jingting was really lucky. Of course, the bigger probability was that he had already been haunted, but he didn’t know.
Wei Jingting tapped the backpack. He grinned. “The laptop.” Based on Wei Jingting’s story, he lured the ghost over because he was checking the laptop for clues. Plus, the laptop belonged to Qiao Yu.
“The camera angle was the ghost’s perspective, so I was thinking… What would happen if I aimed the laptop screen at the ghost?
“It was as I expected. The ghost disappeared.” Wei Jingting patted his chest and sighed. “It returned to the laptop. Then, I quickly smashed the screen. After that, nothing else happened. I slept until morning.”
“How can you still sleep after that?” Fatty scanned Wei Jingting up and down. He thought the man was crazy.
Jiang Cheng didn’t think so much. He repeated the events in his mind and felt that it was reasonable. When he was bored and watched Ringu, he was curious. If he placed two televisions facing each other, what would happen if Sadako crawled out of the television screens?
Wei Jingting provided him with the answer.
“It looks like the female ghost in the video is the key.” Liu Guo announced. He was the oldest among the travellers.
“And the ring.” Wan Xiaoning cut in. “The one the ghost left in Yu Lan’s mouth.”
The group had more discussions. Other than Wei Jingting, the others had a peaceful night. They couldn’t help but glance at this unlucky bastard. In the end, it was Liu Guo who said, “It’s getting late. We should follow up on our existing clues. We’ll reunite here before dark.” He warned, “Be careful of this mysterious woman. If our guesses are not wrong, this is most likely a crime of passion.”
Walking down the street and in the crowd, Fatty felt much better. Chu Jiu followed them with her eyes shining with determination. Fatty felt bad because he knew the determination came from the Doctor’s lie. He had no idea how Chu Jiu would react when the lie was exposed. Hopefully, he wouldn’t be there to see it when the mission ended.
He shook his head and cut to the chase. “Doctor,” He asked Jiang Cheng, who walked ahead. “Do you think the woman Wei Jingting mentioned is real?”
“She should be real.” Jiang Cheng turned around as if looking for someone.
Fatty worked his stiff neck. He hadn’t had a good night's sleep in days. The moment he closed his eyes, the ghost would appear to snap his neck. This was what he had to deal with after offending the Doctor.
“Wei Jingting sure is lucky.” Fatty sighed, “He encountered the ghost twice, but he survived both times.”
On the first night, Chen Yi, Banana Wolf and Wei Jingting encountered the ghosts. Once he said that, Fatty regretted it. He glanced at Chu Jiu, worried that she would be reminded of Chen Yi. ɽÄ₦O͍BЕŝ
Clearly, he underestimated the girl. She told him firmly, “Thank you. You don’t have to worry about me. Saving Sister Chen Yi is more important.” Then, she continued, “Actually, I think Wei Jingting is amazing. Sister Chen Yi was grabbed by the ghost after she encountered them once but he encountered them twice but is still so active.”
Jiang Cheng paused and listened to Chu Jiu, who continued her analysis. Then, he turned to look at Fatty. Then, he gave him a side-eye.
Fatty saw the desire in the Doctor’s eyes where he was considering trading the fat sidekick out for a cute loli.
“Doctor,” Fatty quickly interrupted. “Lolis are not as good as you think. They are very arrogant. If they’re not in a good mood, they might bite you.”
When he heard that, Jiang Cheng’s eyes lit up further. He wanted to be bitten.
“Where are we going?” Chu Jiu raised her small face to ask.
Jiang Cheng raised his brow and shrugged. “We’re just wandering around.”
“But… Shouldn’t we search for clues about the woman?” Chu Jiu was confused.
For some reason, she had a good impression of Jiang Cheng. She didn’t care about the man’s appearance.
