Little Sophie stood firmly blocking Charlotte Harrison, her gaze fierce.
"You’d better explain clearly to me!"
"Fine, I’ll tell you!" Charlotte Harrison pushed Christopher Smith aside, straightened her clothes, and stood proudly in front of Little Sophie.
"I’ve been by your father’s side for over ten years, always enduring humiliation without any status. Four years ago, when the house was to be demolished, Golden Era offered several million as demolition compensation. I just wanted one million, but that woman actually refused. Your dad wanted to divorce her, and she couldn’t take it and jumped off the building to commit suicide. It’s as simple as that!"
Back then, she tried hard to force Christopher Smith to divorce the two of them, but that woman’s heart seemed as fragile as glass—three words wrong and she would run off to jump off a building and commit suicide; fine, if she wanted to commit suicide. Charlotte Harrison took James Smith into the room, leaving just the father and daughter in the cramped living room.
"Don’t say anything." Her voice carried a trace of defensiveness and unfamiliarity.
"Is what Charlotte Harrison said true?"
Christopher Smith’s eyes welled with old tears, but now, what face had he left to deny it?
"That’s enough!" She tried to steady herself against the wall, "Dad, this might be the last time I call you that. From now on, act as if this daughter of yours doesn’t exist. I won’t come again to disrupt your family of three." She quickly turned and ran out.

She didn’t know how she left Southern County; her phone received many messages, all from Julia Brown.

Irene’s mouth curled into a wry smile; it wasn’t just obvious. His face practically spelled out ’I care a lot.’
He seemed somewhat defeated, after all, he was Asher Land, yet now he’s being swayed by a woman.
"You’ve really changed a lot." Irene’s eyes were full of disappointment, Asher Land noticed but was slightly puzzled.
He would no longer cherish her and hold her as his treasure; the one he loved and cared for was someone else.
She’s jealous, envious, but she can only pretend to bless and not care.
