He naturally called her back.
But now it was her turn not to pick up the phone.
Relentlessly, he called again and again.
Yet, the mechanized female voice still answered him.
"Hello, the number you have dialed is currently unavailable, please call again later..."
"President Land, can the meeting continue?" an elderly shareholder on the left asked.
"That’s it for today." He pulled back his chair and left the meeting room under everyone’s astonished gaze.
Damn it, this woman is quite skilled at tit-for-tat; he didn’t just miss one call from her? Now, he’s calling ten times and she’s not answering any?
Sophie Smith walked out of the bathroom, her hair not yet fully dry, and picked up a towel to wipe her damp long hair.
She caught a glimpse of her phone on the bed with the corner of her eye and noticed the screen was lit up.
Curious, she walked over and picked up the phone.
The phone showed fifteen missed calls and twelve unread messages.
She scrolled through the messages one by one.
"Why aren’t you answering my calls?"
"Sophie, call me back within ten minutes!"
"Hey, is it really necessary? I just missed one call from you, didn’t I?"
Sophie helplessly curled her lips. She had been in the bathroom all this time, and her phone was on vibrate, so it was quite normal for her not to see his calls and messages. Besides, the frequency of his calls and messages was too fast; it had only been about thirty minutes, after all.
She was just about to call back when Asher Land called again.
"Hello..." she spoke softly.
There was silence on the other end.

Asher Land’s sullen voice startled Sophie, but no matter, she’s in S City now; he can’t do anything to her.
"Why would you run off to S City without telling me?" It made him feel blatantly ignored.
"I called you and you didn’t pick up." How did this turn into her fault again? Oh right, he’s just an indiscriminate tyrant!
"It’s for a celebrity party; it’s not exactly formal work, but Sister Sunny said attending this party would help me build contacts in the entertainment industry..."
"Sophie, are you thinking of seducing some man again?" he sneered.
"Don’t be unreasonable, okay?" Sophie’s voice involuntarily raised a notch, "This is a normal social event, not as filthy as you think!"
"Filthy? How dare you say my thoughts are filthy?"
Somehow, the tension between them intensified, luckily it was over the phone; otherwise, the consequences...
Sophie didn’t dare to think.
"I’m asking for your specific location."
"You wouldn’t be planning to come here for revenge, would you?"
Asher Land’s mouth twitched, damn it, in her mind, is he really such a bored and petty person?
After hesitating for a long time, Sophie finally truthfully reported her exact location.
