Just as she was lying there alone, lost in her thoughts, she heard the sound of the door being opened.
"Miss Smith, are you asleep?" It was Nanny Garcia’s voice.
"Oh, not yet." Sophie sat up, feeling a bit listless.
"You see, do you want to go down and have something to eat, ..."
"Ah?" Sophie was a bit stunned, although she had mentioned being hungry, she didn’t want to trouble Nanny Garcia. She didn’t expect that Nanny Garcia would prepare a late-night snack for her, which moved her somewhat.
"Nanny Garcia, it’s really troublesome for you." She stood up, dragging her sprained leg, preparing to go downstairs, after all, she was really about to faint from hunger.
She clutched the railing and stepped down one stair at a time. Halfway down, a figure appeared before her.
Asher Land stood at the bottom step, looking up at her.

Sophie stood there, stuck in a dilemma.
"Miss Smith, those snacks were brought back by the young master; he heard you were hungry, so he..."
Sophie’s fingers gripped the railing tightly; she didn’t know how to describe her current feelings. Was she grateful for his kindness or disdainful?
"Didn’t you say you were hungry? What, now that you see me, you’re not hungry anymore?" His tone and expression didn’t change much. Sophie thought it over; this time, she must stand her ground against him. She couldn’t bow her head so easily.
"Yes, seeing you makes me lose my appetite." Sophie said, and just as she was about to turn around.
Asher Land’s lips twitched—damn it, was his good intention only to be met with her sarcasm? Was she so keen to give him the cold shoulder?
"You’ll eat whether you want to or not." He stepped forward, picked her up horizontally, and headed towards the dining room.
"Asher, my mouth is on my own body, I’ll eat if I want to, or not!" Does she even need to be forced by him to have a meal? Is there no more justice in this world?
Nanny Garcia broke out in a cold sweat; these two made having a meal look like going to battle. Clearly, when she went to call Sophie, Sophie was quite excited about having a late-night snack. How did it turn out the moment she found out the young master bought it?
"Put me down!" Sophie protested.
He ignored her, sat on a chair, then placed her on his lap. She tried to move but was firmly held in place by him.
Sophie still wanted to resist, but once she saw those delicious foods on the table, she had to admit, she was a bit tempted.
Asher Land must have ordered almost every dish from the restaurant; the dining table was full, and of course, it included some of her favorites: matcha cake, chocolate donuts, mango pudding...
But, was he afraid she wouldn’t gain weight?
She reached out and put a piece of dessert into her mouth.
The feeling of a filled stomach was so good; after finishing one piece, she couldn’t resist the temptation and took another piece.
Gradually, she simply sat on his lap and began eating earnestly.
Asher Land’s lips curved into a smile; seeing her eating happily lifted his spirits too.
