"Your emotions aren’t quite there, you know?" Asher Land’s lips curled into a slight smile, which Sophie Smith found somewhat insincere. "Your eyes lack that seductive, criminal allure. Do it again."
"Got it, President Land." She knew he was deliberately nitpicking and didn’t want to argue with him, as it wouldn’t benefit her in any way.
In the end, the intimate scene between her and Wyatt Sterling was limited to just kissing. Because of Asher Land’s presence, the so-called daring scenes had no chance to unfold.
Asher Land inexplicably called "cut" three times, saying at one moment her emotions were off, and the next that her lines were delivered stiffly.
The director was also a bit helpless. In her opinion, Sophie Smith’s performance was quite good.
"Find a stand-in then."
"President Land, this..." The director was puzzled. According to Asher Land, it was her emotions that were lacking, meaning her facial expressions weren’t right. How would using a stand-in help? It wouldn’t solve the problem at all.
"Find a stand-in. This part will be shot only from behind and with her voice."
This was simply ludicrous. How could Asher Land be so capricious, like a child? Sophie Smith had many grievances, but she could only keep them to herself as the director followed Asher Land’s instructions, and she had no choice but to head to the dressing room to change her clothes.
Wyatt Sterling turned his gaze towards Asher Land. It seemed Sophie was his woman because, as a man, his possessiveness was strong, and no man would want another touching his woman.
Sophie sat in the caravan, frustrated with Asher Land, who had ruined all her scenes today.
The car door suddenly opened, and Asher Land swiftly climbed in.
"What are you doing? Aren’t you afraid of rumors?" He sat down so brazenly, and there were so many eyes in the crew.
"I want everyone to know that you are my woman, Sophie Smith."
Ha, what an arrogant man.
"Will you one day let everyone know that I’m the woman dumped by you, Asher Land?"
Someday, he would tire of her, and then she would just be a woman abandoned by Young Master Land after he toyed with her.
For a moment, he was at a loss for words. Indeed, she was getting sharper and sharper.
"You should be grateful I didn’t let you appear naked in front of another man today." He abruptly changed the subject. She knew he was referring to that passionate scene with Wyatt Sterling.
"I’m an actress. Even if that were the case, I wouldn’t see anything wrong with it."
"I won’t allow it." He absolutely would not allow his woman to be touched by any man before he tired of her.
"Why?" Why could he have countless women, yet she must remain faithful to him? Especially when he wasn’t the one she loved?
"Why?" Asher Land let out a cold laugh. "Because I am Asher Land."
Asher Land, yes, as long as those three words were spoken, what else could she say?
"From now on, let me know if you have any intimate scenes," Asher Land whispered in her ear.
He wasn’t even her boyfriend; she wouldn’t go through the trouble of reporting to him like a little woman.
"Did you hear me?" Seeing her silence, Asher Land raised his voice.
"Got it," Sophie Smith replied absentmindedly.
"That’s more like it." Hearing the answer he wanted, Asher Land felt considerably pleased.
Sophie suddenly remembered Jessica Wood. Jessica had asked her to introduce her to Asher Land. Jessica was so beautiful that if Asher Land took a liking to her, maybe he’d shift his attention away from her.
"I have something to tell you." Sophie removed her eye mask and looked solemnly at Asher Land.
"A friend of mine from the crew wants to meet you."
"What role does she want to play?" Asher Land asked dismissively.
"She doesn’t want to play any role; she just wants to meet you."
Asher Land’s dark eyes narrowed. He understood what she was implying: she wanted to introduce another woman to him. What did she take him for?
"Sophie Smith, you’d better recognize your place and not get too presumptuous."
When did it become her turn to find women for him? Or was she just that eager to get rid of him?
