Not Being a Trainer This Time Chapter 21

Watching the Icy Wind sweeping out, Carter couldn’t help but think.

However, in the next second, that Caterpie made a move beyond expectation.

It calmly looked at the Icy Wind, and then quickly spat out Bug Silk from its mouth to block in front of it.

The amount of Bug Silk was astonishing, forming a seamless web in just a few breaths.

The Icy Wind hit the web, freezing it into an ice block, but the umbrella-like ice block perfectly shielded the Caterpie behind it.

"What?"

Carter was slightly taken aback.

In the moment he was stunned, the web frozen into an ice block fell to the ground, and immediately, a large net sparking with yellow currents shot out from behind.

Before Delibird could react, it was hit by the Electroweb.

Threads of electric current spread out, and Delibird let out a painful Growl, then rolled its eyes back and lost the ability to fight.

Seeing this scene, Carter was frozen in place, his face revealing a look of disbelief.

If he wasn’t mistaken, the move just used by the Caterpie was Electroweb?

But how is that possible?!

Is this still the Caterpie he knows?

At that moment, footsteps came from behind.

Carter turned around and saw Naoki walking over.

He was about to say something when he saw the wild Caterpie on the tree jump down and come to Naoki’s side.

Carter’s eyes widened, and he changed his words midway: "Mr. Naoki... is this Caterpie your Pokemon?"

"Yes." Naoki nodded, looked at the unconscious Delibird, and raised an eyebrow: "Did you just battle with it?"

Looking at the state of that Delibird, it should have been defeated by Caterpie with Electroweb.

Electric Type is doubly effective against Flying Type, and combined with Caterpie’s unexpected attack, it’s not surprising that it defeated Delibird.

Hearing this, the young master from the city blushed immediately and apologized hastily: "I’m very sorry! I thought it was a wild Pokemon!"

"..." Naoki was about to speak when suddenly, a strong milky white glow burst from the Caterpie beside him.

In the light, Caterpie’s body was rapidly changing.

The originally soft body became hard as iron, the legs underneath disappeared, becoming smooth, the body becoming crescent-shaped, with a green protrusion on the back, and the black eyes half open and half closed.

When the white light dissipated, the original Caterpie disappeared, replaced by a brand-new Metapod.

Watching this scene, Carter opened his mouth in surprise: "It evolved!"

Naoki smiled slightly: "I should thank you for helping Caterpie complete its evolution."

"No, it’s not my credit!" Carter said, somewhat embarrassed.

Naoki chuckled, picked up Metapod in his arms, and walked towards the wooden house: "Let’s go back first! Your Delibird seems to need treatment."

Carter followed along.

Naoki looked down at Caterpie and said to it: "Congratulations, you’ve successfully evolved."

Metapod couldn’t speak or move, and could only use Harden.

Normally, wild Caterpies find a safe place before evolution, hang themselves on trees by spinning Bug Silk, and then begin to evolve.

Therefore, just as Caterpie felt it was about to evolve, it immediately ran to Naoki’s side.

For Naoki, Caterpie had great trust. It believed he would take it to a safe place.

Sure enough, as it expected, Naoki led it back to the wooden house.

Considering the environment Caterpie likes, before settling it down, Naoki asked: "Do you want to stay outside or in the room? If outside, blink."

Metapod blinked.

Naoki nodded: "Okay, I’ll make a box for you with planks later."

Metapod couldn’t move and could only look over with grateful eyes.

Naoki temporarily placed the Caterpie on a blanket, then turned to check on Carter’s Delibird.

Delibird had fainted, its body twitching slightly, seemingly affected by Electric Type Energy.

"Feed it a mixture of a Cheri Berry and an Oran Berry, and it should recover." With that, Naoki stood up, found the two berries from the basket, mixed them, and fed them to Delibird.

Soon, Delibird groggily opened its eyes and recovered.

Seeing this, Carter breathed a sigh of relief, but then he thought of Caterpie’s earlier performance and asked in shock: "Mr. Naoki, how did you do it?"

Naoki was slightly surprised: "What?"

Carter: "How did you train Caterpie to that level?"

A Bug Type Caterpie being able to defeat a Flying Type Delibird with one move.

What’s more unbelievable, that Caterpie could use a special move like Electroweb.

Caterpie couldn’t possibly learn that move on its own unless it had been given special training.

But that’s extremely difficult; a novice Trainer could never achieve such a feat.

Not to mention Caterpie doesn’t have Electric Type Energy; teaching it Electroweb requires some kind of Secret Moves by the Trainer.

Even an Elite Level Trainer might not succeed!
