’’There are trees large enough for us to hide under them,’’ she revealed.
The duo rushed toward the towering trees. Spotting one that offered a perfect hiding spot, Thalira grabbed his hand and slid inside the hollow of the tree. He followed closely behind her, just as a horde of Blood Wolves rushed past, their snarls echoing through the air.
They held their breath, hoping the creatures wouldn’t notice their hiding spot. Leo noticed several wolves that were stronger than him but that’s when he noticed the older woman sitting in his lap.

After ensuring they were safe, Leo pulled out some stew and shared it with Thalira. They sat together on a sturdy branch high above the forest floor, where they could see the chaos of monster swarms raging below.
The sounds of growls and clashes echoed up to them, but in their small refuge, they found a moment of calm. Soon enough, Thalira fell asleep as her head was resting on his shoulder, he soon followed suit and nodded off.
When Leo woke up the following morning the growls were gone and everything seemed peaceful. Thalira soon woke up as her red eyes blinked against the morning sun and spoke quietly, ’’We need to move north, the Merchant Road should be there.’’
’’Okay, let me climb down and see if everything is clear,’’ Leo said before climbing outside and activating his flying spell allowing him to hover mid-air.
This allowed him to see everything around them but no monsters were lurking around. Leo was happy before grabbing Thalira and flying north, once they got above the treetops a loud screech rang out.
Leo spun around as a Giant Eagle was swooping down toward them. He slightly panicked but started casting Thunderbolts at the monster. The blue bolts sliced through the air and slammed into its wing.
The limb was torn from the body of the creature which sent it plummeting into the forest below. Following that, Leo glanced around only to see dozens of the Giant Eagles coming for them.
’’That’s a Deathbird, they prey on lone travelers and are a nuisance to the empire,’’ Thalira commented.
He nodded before spamming hundreds of Thunderbolts and Fireballs that struck dozens of monsters. They were engulfed in a storm of explosions that sent the flying creature crashing into the trees.
Leo had slaughtered so many Deathbirds that the remaining flock finally retreated. Taking advantage of the peace, he gathered the fallen bodies to sell when they arrived back at the city.
Once he finished, they started heading north. As they flew, Thalira spotted a road in the distance. She pointed it out, noting it would lead them straight to the capital. Without hesitation, Leo sped up and soon they noticed the group rushing toward the city.
Following that Leo dived down and started casting dozens of Fireballs that slammed into the monsters. Explosions erupted and burned the creatures to ash which caused the group to turn around.
They erupted in cheers as Leo unleashed a devastating barrage on the horde below. Fireballs and Thunderbolts rained down like a storm, each spell obliterated the enemies in a fiery explosion.
The monster horde was reduced to ashes, his magic leaving nothing but chaos in its wake.
