Official Career Storm Chapter 160

Song Guanchao was startled for a moment, then looked up and met Wu Qiangwei’s gaze in the rearview mirror.

Only then did he realize she had been watching him all along.

He instinctively covered his body with his hands, "Secretary, are you spying on me?"

Wu Qiangwei, embarrassed, looked away and did not answer his question, instead saying, "What unhealthy things are you always thinking about in your mind?"

Song Guanchao didn’t understand at first until he looked down and saw the bulge in his underwear, then he realized what she meant.

"Cough, mainly because you just changed your clothes, Secretary, I..."

"I couldn’t help but imagine."

"Secretary, do we really have to talk about it?"

Wu Qiangwei’s heartbeat was fast. She felt both shy and ashamed but still couldn’t help wanting to know what exactly Song Guanchao was thinking about her.

Song Guanchao gritted his teeth and said gruffly, "I was wondering what style of underwear the Secretary was wearing."

"Shut up!" Wu Qiangwei exclaimed, her blush spreading to the base of her neck.

"You asked me to say it..." Song Guanchao said helplessly.

"Get changed quickly."

Song Guanchao grabbed his clothes, this time wisely keeping an eye on the rearview mirror as he changed.

He thought Wu Qiangwei would not continue to sneak glances, yet she did, and Song Guanchao caught her in the act.

"Secretary, if you want to look, just look. After all, I’m your secretary."

"What nonsense are you speaking! Who was looking at you? And what does this have to do with you being my secretary?"

Wu Qiangwei naturally would not admit it.

Song Guanchao said, "Haven’t you heard the saying, Secretary? ’Secretaries handle the matters, and when there are no matters, handle the secretaries.’"

"Shut up!" Wu Qiangwei was breathing unevenly.

Song Guanchao gave a sheepish smile, quickly got dressed, and went to the driver’s seat.

Seeing Wu Qiangwei’s flushed cheeks as she turned to look out the window, Song Guanchao asked, "Secretary, where are we going?"

"What are we eating?"

Song Guanchao drove out of the parking lot.

Meanwhile, an ordinary Volkswagen sedan drove out from the City Committee parking lot directly opposite, following behind them.

The driver was Wu Ming, and sitting in the passenger seat was Zeng Li.

"I mean, Miss Zeng, why are you making me follow Song Guanchao?" Wu Ming was utterly bewildered.

Zeng Li said, "I suspect there’s something off about Sister Weiwei’s secretary."

Wu Ming said, "Don’t just make wild guesses. Secretary Song is perfectly fine, there’s nothing wrong with him."

"How do you know? Do you know him? Do you understand him?"

"I..." Wu Ming was at a loss for words and silently followed behind.

Half an hour later, Song Guanchao arrived in Fengjiang District and parked the car outside a shabby diner.

When the two got out of the car, Wu Ming behind them exclaimed in surprise, "My sister is in the car too?"

Zeng Li was also surprised. Had Song Guanchao mentioned he had plans tonight to have dinner with Wu Qiangwei?

However, the choice of place was pretty basic.

Inside the diner, Song Guanchao ordered a few home-style dishes.

The food was served quickly, and it tasted surprisingly good, to Wu Qiangwei’s astonishment.

After a hearty meal, Song Guanchao paid the bill and had the owner issue a receipt.

As they left the restaurant, Wu Qiangwei asked, "Where are we going next?"

Song Guanchao didn’t speak; he lit a cigarette, took a few puffs, and lifted his chin, "Secretary..."

Wu Qiangwei glanced around at pedestrians passing by and whispered, "Call me by my name when we’re outside."

Song Guanchao tentatively asked, "So, should I call you Qiangwei? Weiwei?"

Wu Qiangwei’s cheeks flushed slightly, but fortunately, it was dark enough that it wasn’t noticeable, "Whatever."

"Then I’ll call you Weiwei," Song Guanchao said. "Weiwei, take a good look at this street."

Still adjusting to the sudden change in address, she heard his follow-up and looked down the street accordingly.

But after a full survey, she found nothing.

Nevertheless, Song Guanchao said, "Sec... ahem, Weiwei, you see it, right?"

Wu Qiangwei was somewhat confused, truly unsure of what he expected her to see.

She suddenly felt a bit irritated, "Stop playing games."

Song Guanchao wasn’t playing coy; he looked at Wu Qiangwei with a hint of surprise. Although he didn’t speak, his expression clearly asked, "You really can’t see it?"

This made Wu Qiangwei quite uncomfortable; she was the leader, and Song Guanchao was the secretary.

Yet now, the secretary had noticed something the leader had not.

Although she wasn’t like the typical leaders, she still felt embarrassed at this moment.

Song Guanchao hinted, "Weiwei, look at the signs of these stores."

She looked again, and after a few seconds, it dawned on her.

Every storefront on both sides of the street had uniform ochre signs with identical fonts.

At first glance, it gave a dull, lifeless impression without any individuality.

She understood what Song Guanchao meant.

She stepped towards a nearby convenience store, but Song Guanchao quickly stopped her, "Weiwei, put on your mask and hat."

He took a mask and a hat from the car, and Wu Qiangwei understood his point.

Since they were conducting undercover research, a disguise was necessary.

She often appeared in the news, and although most people didn’t watch the news, some still did.

After putting on the mask and hat, she and Song Guanchao entered the convenience store.

They picked up two bottles of drinks, and when paying, Song Guanchao casually asked, "Boss, why do all the signs in this area look the same?"

The owner complained, "The leaders from above demanded it; they won’t allow us to operate without uniform signs."

Song Guanchao clicked his tongue, "These leaders really don’t do anything practical."

Leaving the convenience store, Wu Qiangwei said, "Let’s check out other places."

The two got into the car and spent the evening cruising through various streets and alleys.

Almost every street had uniform signs.

Eventually, they left the Fengjiang District and toured several other districts, but they didn’t find a similar phenomenon.

Both of them now had a clearer picture.

Around eleven at night, Song Guanchao dropped her off at her residential complex.

While parking the car, Song Guanchao suddenly asked, "Secretary, has that young guy continued trying to flirt with you?" Follow current ɴᴏᴠᴇʟs on 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡✶𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚✶𝙣𝙚𝙩

"He’s quite persistent," Song Guanchao chuckled, "I haven’t found any useful information about the Yunhai Club yet, so I’ll hold off on confronting him to avoid alerting them."

Wu Qiangwei nodded; she wasn’t worried about what the person behind that young man wanted with her because Uncle Hong was always secretly protecting her.

After watching Wu Qiangwei enter her building, Song Guanchao left.

Not far away, in a sedan, Wu Ming stated, "I see now, my sister and he are conducting an investigation."

Zeng Li nodded, she had also noticed.

She had initially thought that Song Guanchao was making up excuses just to placate her, but now it seemed he was indeed working on something serious!

When Song Guanchao returned home, Liang Jiajia hadn’t come back yet.

Since joining the CID, her work hours had become increasingly unpredictable.

After taking a shower, Song Guanchao came out just as Liang Jiajia was opening the door to the apartment.

Seeing her weary and exhausted, Song Guanchao quickly approached, "Hungry? Should I go downstairs and get you something to eat?"
