Oops, I Accidentally Ascended to Godhood Chapter 76

Bringing down his wrist, Tarkan didn't even realize when he had done it.

Sigh

I really miss Tharn. Tarkan couldn't help but lament

Since he had been there, he had never heard of any creature attacks. But coming to Thira? It hadn't even been a full day, and he was already being called to help with reinforcements.

Even with the heavy guns mounted on the city gates, they still couldn't handle the threat. That, to him, was almost funny.

"So… what does it do?" Tarkan asked, his hands picking up the twin swords and giving them a few testing swings.

"You can scan it with your bracelet. The weapon is registered," Thiago said, watching Tarkan hold a sword in each hand.

Tarkan swung them again, a pleased expression on his face.

He had almost forgotten that nearly every weapon sold legally was tested by the Terra association to confirm its effects. Once verified, the information was uploaded to the Association's servers. If you owned a legal item, chances were it was already registered in the database.

The ground trembled again. Thiago's casual expression was nowhere to be found.

Slim, still standing behind Tarkan, didn't show any reaction either. He didn't seem bothered at all, only glancing around the shop curiously from time to time.

Tarkan couldn't help feeling grateful he had been able to register as an Evolver. Without that, he wouldn't be able to scan or get information on any item from beyond the First Dimension.

He raised his wristband and scanned the weapon.

The effect was pretty good nonetheless.

Swinging the twin swords again, Tarkan admired them even more. They weren't too thick or too thin, just right. The blades were white, which suited his taste, with a straight red line running along the body from the guard to the tip.

He guessed that was the indicator for when the effect was ready to use. Once charged, he could simply channel his energy to activate it.

He was already falling for them.

Hopefully, they wouldn't be too costly.

"How much?" he asked the now not-so-calm-looking Thiago.

"Three hundred thirty million gold coins, or fifty Feral cores," Thiago replied.

Even though Tarkan had expected the price to be high, he couldn't help thinking back to Tharn.

Now, he understood what people meant when they said you never knew the value of something until you lost it.

He had hoped to buy a weapon and an absorption technique for Slim and Ricky, so they could defend themselves when they entered the Second Dimension.

But he couldn't even buy a weapon for himself, let alone the techniques.

He checked his balance.

11,999,947 gold coins.

Even with millions to his name, the feeling of poverty still crept in. It made him want to find a place to sit down and cry.

He gritted his teeth. To kill a creature, you either needed a weapon capable of piercing its skin or a technique powerful enough to give you the capacity to kill monsters, or even beings beyond your rank.

Like weapons, fighting techniques were graded into tiers. And from what he had learned, they were a hundred times more expensive than weapons.

The only way for him to make money was by killing monsters, which was exactly why he needed the sword in the first place.

Slim had about five million left after covering Ricky's trip to Thira. Even if Tarkan borrowed that, it wouldn't be enough.

Thiago, seeing him take too long after hearing the price, finally spoke.

"If you don't have money, I have a solution," Thiago said, licking his lips with an innocent smile.

Tarkan, who had been lost in thoughts about money, immediately became interested

"What do you suggest?" he asked.

"Let's add each other as friends. I'll send it to you, and you'll know what I mean."

Instead of answering directly, Thiago simply had them link bracelets.

A beep sounded almost instantly.

Sssss

Tarkan opened the message, and drew in a sharp breath of cold air.

Wasn't this too much?

He looked at Thiago, whose harmless smile hadn't changed. But in Tarkan's eyes, the man's image had completely flipped.

Even though the city was in chaos, this guy was still trying to rob someone.

"What are you looking at me like that for? You could die, and I might end up with nothing. I'm taking a risk here. I've got a family to feed. Besides, I'm not forcing you," Thiago said, putting on a wronged expression as he noticed Tarkan's stare.

The reason Tarkan was so shocked was because of the contract Thiago had sent him.

It was a loan agreement for the twin swords. The terms were so outrageously one-sided that calling it a scam would almost be a compliment.

The contract stated that Tarkan was to pay 920 million gold coins in the next 30 days.

If he defaulted, a hundred million coins would be added per day until the debt was fully paid.

On top of that, the contract allowed for any money entering his account to be automatically deducted, not leaving him a single coin until the loan was repaid.

It was outright outrageous. Ruthless to the core.
