After saying that, Kelsie turned and gently took Keira, who had dozed off at the end of the movie, into her arms.
Unfortunately for Jesse and Zade, the theater was still too crowded and noisy to hear a word Kelsie and Jett were exchanging.
But given the sudden furious look in Jett’s eyes, it was quite obvious the talk wasn’t going the way they expected.
Jett had suddenly understood that Kelsie was saying he was into men. As if what she said wasn’t enough, she even added that she could never be into a man like him.
Then she bowed to him slightly and left the theater with the boys in tow.
As soon as they left, Jett’s hand moved to his tie as he distractedly loosened it.
Then he abruptly paused and laughed in disbelief.
He placed a hand on his waist and pointed at himself with the other as he repeated bitterly, "Gay? Me?"
"And what’s wrong with a man like me? I’m handsome, tall, and very wealthy. She really has a poor taste in men. I wonder what her husband looks like."
"I bet he doesn’t look very good. Does she have any idea how good our children would be if she had those kids with me? How ridiculous!"
Sensing the anger in his voice, Daniel got up and came to Kelsie’s rescue.
"Why are you getting angry? It’s not the first time you’re being called gay. If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’re gay too."
The man didn’t turn to look at him as he retorted impatiently, tugging his loosened tie again.
"It’s not about what she said, it’s about who said it. Merely seeing her angers me. And she always talks back to me."
"All I’ve done all these while is look out for her, but instead of thanking me she looks me in the eyes and tells me I’m into men?"
"What was that she said, again? I’ll never be her type in man? What a laugh!"
Daniel stared at him for a moment and sucked in a deep breath.
This situation. His brother was rattled by her.
But she still made an impression him.
He didn’t know if to count this as a win or not?
After thinking for several seconds, he decided to count it as a win.
Their plans for the evening didn’t go to waste. She made an impression. That was what mattered.
How he reacted to the impression she made didn’t matter at all.
As he thought this, Jett was still fuming inwardly and didn’t look like he would forget what just happened between them anytime soon.
It was at this moment that Eric walked up to him and reported, "Sir, there’s a small hacking contest being held in the middle of the valley."
"I hear quite a number of experienced hackers would be there. I think that person might be there or we can at lesst see someone skilled enough to capture him."
Jett exhaled silently and slipped his hands into his pockets then turned his head slightly to the side to ask, "Did you bring a new suit?"
Eric nodded affirmatively. "Yes, sir."
While he changed into a new suit, Kelsie made her way to the apartment building. Once she was inside the elevator, her phone began buzzing in her pocket.
One look at the caller and she answered it immediately.
A woman’s voice up from the other end two seconds later.
"You were looking for a babysitter, weren’t you? I thought you’d need someone more trustworthy, so I sent the nanny who looked after the triplet since they were born."
Kelsie’s tired eyes instantly lit up.
"Is that so? Thank you, aunty!"
"Send my regards to the triplets and tell them Big Mommy misses them so much. I’m hanging up now."
When they got to their apartment, a woman in her mid-fifties walked out of the kitchen putting on a white apron.
As soon as the boys saw her, their eyes lit up happily and they quickly rushed to her.
The woman laughed heartily and ruffled their hairs.
"My, my! I’ve been away from you two for just a few weeks, but you already grew taller and even more handsome!"
"I missed you so much, granny!" Zade beamed while Jesse just hugged her tighter.
After embracing them for several seconds, she sent them to their room and lowered her eyes politely to the floor.
"Your aunty sent me."
"I was told. Thank you for coming." She hummed lightly and began strutting to her children’s room.
She changed Keira into her sleeping wear and helped the boys with theirs.
After having dinner for the night, Kelsie sat at her study desk and glanced at the time on her phone.
Then she turned on her laptop and began checking the schools in Silicon Valley. She researched for over one hour before a call came into her phone.
Without checking who it was, she answered it and pressed it against her ear.
"There’s a hacking contest being held in the middle of Silicon Valley. Even though it’s an impromptu hackathon, a lot of people are in attendance. I believe Jett Adler would be here to pick out a possible employee."
"It would be good if you make it here to see the talents the company will be going up against for the job with Jett Adler."
The words had just rolled off Laura’s mouth when Kelsie spat out indifferently, "I’m not interested."
Laura sneered from the other end.
"Why? Do you not want to get roped into testing your capability? Do you fear you’ll lose to me?"
Kelsie continued scrolling down the list of schools on her screen as she retorted, "Laura, I honestly do not care about you."
She was about to hang up when she heard the discussion of the people talking in the background.
"This was supposed to be a small contest but when the wealthy people in Silicon Valley heard of it, they came together to put a prize for the best runner-up."
"Are you serious? How much is it?"
"It increases by the minute as more people learn of it. The current price is...unbelievable!"
"Hey, let me see! One, two, three... six zeros. No seven."
"No, look properly, it’s eight zeros."
"Someone just upped the prize money by one zero. Making it a... a billion!"
Kelsie paused and leaned back on her seat, immediately rethinking her decision.
"Where’s this contest being held?"
