Jett Adler’s brow knitted into a tight frown almost immediately seeing this scene.
What? Wasn’t she married?
He had seen her husband the other day at the hospital and this Bryan Baker looked nothing like him.
Could it be he was her boyfriend?
His frown hardened at that possibility.
Someone who stalked and followed him everywhere he went, but denied it when he caught her was someone capable of doing this.
Judging from Bryan’s expensive suit and the luxurious watch on his wrist, Jett didn’t need a soothsayer to tell him what was going on.
Despite looking so innocent, she was after wealthy men.
First was Bryan and now him.
This despicable woman!
She was even brazen enough to bring their relationship out in public.
Just as he was judging her, Kelsie’s nose and cheeks suddenly reddened before she turned her face to the side and sneezed into her arm.
Her eyes which had swollen with tears gave a certain man the wrong impression.
Jett couldn’t believe his eyes. Not only was her boyfriend doing something so shameless in public, but she also dared to be so moved by this act of service!
As he fumed in her ’husband’s’ behalf and judged her, Kelsie turned her face to the side and sneezed into her arm again.
Bryan Baker had suddenly shoved the flowers in her face before she could turn away, triggering her flower allergy
She immediately reached into her pocket for her handkerchief which she used in shielding her nose from the smell of the flower.
However, the swell of tears in her eyes and her red cheeks gave Bryan the wrong idea.
He beamed eagerly and said, "If I knew you’d be touched by me bringing you flowers, I would’ve done it the moment I left the engagement party!"
"Doesn’t it smell very nice? I specially picked it out myself to give to you. They were others who smelt nice, but I liked this one best."
"At first, I feared we won’t have the same taste, but seeing how moved you are by the flowers, I suddenly have the urge to go out to buy you another one."
"Here, take it. And don’t worry, I’ll be sure to bring you another bunch when this one withers."
As he moved it towards her again, she pressed the hankerchief tightly against her nose and hurriedly snatched it away from him to toss into the trashcan near her.
The triumphant smile which was about to spread across Bryan’s face halted immediately seeing this.
Laura, who was about to get furious and call Kelsie names, instantly froze in disbelief.
Just like everyone else watching the scene, she had no idea Kelsie was allergic to flowers and almost got the wrong idea.
Which wasn’t surprising since she wasn’t close enough with Kelsie in the past to know this. Kelsie was also cooped up in her room most of the time and never went into the guarden.
The anger in her eyes slowly wilted away and was replaced by a cocky smile as she walked to stand beside Bryan.
"Bryan is just trying to be nice to you. There’s no need to be so insolent towards him."
Bryan clenched and unclenched his jaw tightly, his cheek quickly heating up in embarrassment.
Unlike during the engagement party the other day, there was a much bigger crowd here.
And unlike then, this place had numerous bigshots in Silicon Valley who were probably watching.
For someone who did the embarrassment and rejection, Kelsie’s rejection was a blow to his ego,
And to make matters worse, Laura just had to make mention of what just happened again as if everyone here hadn’t witnessed it with her.
Laura didn’t stop to think for a moment how Bryan was feeling and continued, "Don’t tell me you’re still angry with Bryan for ending his engagement to you. Don’t be like that, Kelsie."
"Even though you went under the knife to look this pretty, you don’t magically expect his feelings towards you to change so quickly."
Had it been last week, Bryan would’ve immediately countered what she said by saying he would still marry Kelsie, but after being humiliated by her, he was visibly offended.
Kelsie wiped her nose clean and raised her eyes to look at Laura, then her eyes shifted to Bryan who was visibly fuming.
She knew her action just now was embarrassing to him and parted her lips to apologize when Bryan beat her to it.
"I know that you’re angry that I ended our engagement. But if you had taken this flower from me and told me how much you like it, I would’ve really considered doing something to appease your anger."
As soon as his words fell, Laura snorted in disdain, "You little moron, do you think throwing a tantrum suits you? You’re a grown woman with kids for crying out loud!"
The people around instantly caught on to the most interesting part of that sentence and began whispering amongst themselves.
"Grown up woman with kids?"
"That’s right! Wasn’t the reason Bryan Baker ended his engagement with her because she slept with a random gigolo seven years ago?"
"You’re right. I did hear of that. After having such a baggage and humiliating her fiancé of then, she still dares to be cheeky wiht Mr. Baker now. Between them, she should be the one coming to him with a flower. Not the older way around."
"Mr. Baker is too forgiving and nice. Who knows the stories she must’ve cooked up in private to get his attention:"
"Given how softhearted he is, he must’ve been so moved and remorseful that he deemed it fit to apologize to her in a public place ."
Laura didn’t feel remorseful at all for mentioning Kelsie’s children and continued prancing around in contempt.
"Don’t you think at all, Kelsie? This is a publc place and if you wish to remain a part of the Sutton family, you should not do anything that’ll harm the Sutton family’s good name."
"We’ve accepted that you’re a single mother of three bastards who...argh!"
Her haughty tone instantly turned into a shrill scream when Kelsie instantly shot up from her seat and grabbed a fistful of her hair.
"Call them that one more time and I’ll rip out your tongue!"
