Dorothy came to her senses and glanced at the Angel Witches who were being escorted in.
At a glance, the area was filled with weaklings.
"Tsk, the quality of Angel Witches is really declining, they hardly resemble the prestigious three major clans now,"
the homebody witch reflected.
The captured Angel Witches were all quite old, around a hundred years each, but few of them had reached the Rank of Great Witch, with most still at the Elite Witch Rank, and some were even just at the regular Witch Rank, which made people shake their heads in dismay.
Normally, witches born in the three major clans should at least have reached the Rank of Great Witch by the age of about a hundred — that's the passing mark, and the exceptional ones might already have earned their first title, becoming mature Great Witches.
As for the true geniuses, they should be like their very own Spider Teacher, already possessing several titles, embellished with various academic achievements or military honors, counted among the top Great Witches, and even potentially reaching the Peak.
Thinking about her monstrous mother, forget it, such a monstrosity of a witch is one in a billion, it would be unfair to compare her to normal people; it's somewhat bullying.
And now, looking at this bunch of weaklings in front of her, Dorothy could understand why Senior Mia always looked down on Angel Witches, their level was indeed dragging down the average of the three major clans.
These Angel Witches are even specifically in charge of education; how come the Witch Academy has been running quite smoothly, yet their own offspring are so lacking?
The homebody witch frowned, somewhat puzzled.
Could this also be some kind of case where the healers can't heal themselves?
While Dorothy was pondering this, the magical fluctuations coming from not far away made her frown.
"Skywalker, you oversee the examination here, let them all look into the Conscience Devil's Mirror. If there's a problem, detain them immediately,"
she ordered the vice-president, who quietly escorted people back.
After all, it was easier for the Angel Witches to understand their kind, letting Ivette review her Angel Witch fellows would be much more convenient, and since this vice-president's loyalty seemed to be thoroughly earned after being saved by her, there was also no need to worry about her covering for her kin.
After making these arrangements, Dorothy strode forward, exiting the church, and she casually summoned her broom before flying toward the source of the magical disturbance.
Soon, she saw the scene of the fight; several Angel Witches were confronting a few judges.
These few Angel Witches were clearly much stronger than the weaklings in the church, as could be told by the powerful magical fluctuations around them; they were all Great Witches.
Even the one leading them seemed to have a title, ranking high among the Great Witches.
This was more like it; after all, a dying camel is bigger than a horse, the Angel Witches can't all be useless, there are still many normal ones amongst them.
"The Judgment Court is conducting an investigation, please cooperate with us,"
said the lead witch among the judges, wearing a black and white Yin Yang mask, who was none other than the Elemental Empress.
Dorothy was indeed intrigued, but she didn't approach immediately and merely watched from afar.
She had almost confirmed that this primeval witch was Senior Christina, who lived below Audrey – she had recognized the familiar scent on her during the gathering, the scent of the breakfast that was taken when Senior Mia was abducted.
Regarding her unique culinary skills, no one else could replicate that,
which made the homebody witch curious. Although Senior Christina had performed well in the Judgment Court's new recruit assessment, she wasn't particularly outstanding, certainly not comparable to Madeline, which didn't align with her rank in the academy.
Dorothy was quite curious whether this senior was just not used to fighting in spell slots, hence not able to perform at full strength, or if she intentionally held back during the assessment.
"On what grounds? We haven't done anything wrong, why should we be investigated for no reason? Others might fear the Judgment Court, but we don't,"
"Exactly, the Judgment Court has been throwing its weight around too much, but we won't tolerate it,"
"Send your leader over, I want to see on what grounds the Judgment Court can be so arrogant,"
"Please do us a favor..."
These few Angel Witches apparently held not insignificant positions, and they carried themselves with full authority.
Unfortunately, the judges were not the subordinates they usually had control over; their influence meant nothing here.
Their authority derived from the internal rules of the Angel Witches, but the judges were investigating the entirety of the Angel Witch Clan this time; police don't operate on the rules of a criminal gang.
"So, are you planning to obstruct us from performing our duties?"
The Elemental Empress hardly bothered to listen to the blustering from the other side, she simply issued her ultimatum with a calm demeanor.
"Young man, conducting yourself this way will cause trouble for your leadership, take my advice..."
Seeing the young judge taking no account of their positions, the few Angel Witches initially lowered their hostility, but then some became inwardly defensive.
This made Dorothy, watching from a distance, shake her head; no wonder those truly capable Angel Witches preferred to venture to the front lines to pioneer their own path rather than staying in this headquarters hoping for advancement – how could the Angel Witch Clan possibly thrive, having to deal with these vermin daily?
