Under the dim street light, a slender and fragile body was wrapped in a black French velvet coat. Although the coat barely reached her knees, it still could not hide her long, slender legs.
She stood there, rubbing her hands together and constantly breathing on them to keep warm. Occasionally, she would hop up to prevent her body from stiffening due to standing for too long.
Behind her was a mansion with a black carved gate tightly closed. In front lay a dark and quiet road, gradually turning white as the snow fell thicker and thicker.
Victoria Garcia’s eyes were fixed on the road, afraid of missing any person or car that might pass by.
When she saw the familiar license plate number, her heart, which had been freezing for five hours, instantly lit up.
As the car approached, Victoria stood directly in its path, stretching out her arms to block the way.
The car’s headlights flashed, and she instinctively turned her head away as they shone in her eyes.
The car then stopped.
A tall, handsome man, stepped out of the car. Victoria’s gaze immediately fell on him, and everything around her seemed to come to a standstill. It had been a month since he had last sought her out.
“Victoria.” His voice was slightly surprised but not excited.
She could not hear any joy in his voice, and her heart sank a little.
Trembling from the cold, Victoria pursed her lips involuntarily before managing to call out his name: “Alexander Mitchell.”
“What’s the matter?” Alexander asked her indifferently.
Victoria was stunned again. In the past, he would always enthusiastically pursue her, and whenever he saw her, he would break into a happy smile, his features instantly becoming warm and sunny when he laughed.
His question left her unsure of what to say.
Alexander looked at her. Her delicate face, its features, and her skin were as white as the snow, even more translucent than the snow itself.
Perhaps because it was too cold, her usually rosy lips were slightly purple. Despite this, it did not diminish her beauty.
That face, along with her icy temperament, once fascinated him. Even now, looking at her, he could not help but feel moved, though not as intensely as before.
“What’s the matter?” Alexander asked her again.
Awakening from her daze, Victoria returned to the present. She looked into his eyes and said, “I want to ask you for a favor.”
As for her seeking his help, Alexander was indeed surprised. In his memory, to him, Victoria was like a block of ice. It was already hard enough to tease a few more words out of her, let alone to ask her to seek help from others.
“What favor?”
His tone was still indifferent. However, she sensed him becoming somewhat impatient.
Despite this, Victoria gathered the courage to speak.
“Your uncle is a minister in Xavir Hall. Could you please ask him to save my mother?”
Upon hearing her request, Alexander replied without hesitation, “If I’m not mistaken, your mother was convicted of murder, a capital crime.”
Victoria hurriedly explained in an anxious tone, “My mother was framed. She didn’t commit any murder. The real murderer is someone else. Please believe me.”
By the end of her plea, Victoria’s voice was almost begging.
