Overlord: The Multiverse Chapter 301

"Nezuko!" Tanjiro exclaimed, his voice tinged with panic as he cradled her carefully.

"Calm down," I said, raising a hand to soothe him. "This is normal. The process of purging the demon curse and restoring her humanity is intense. Her body is going through a significant change, and it needs time to adjust."

Tanjiro’s panicked expression softened as he processed my words. He looked down at Nezuko, brushing a stray strand of hair from her face. "She’s... she’s going to be okay, right?"

I nodded. "Yes. But it’s going to take some time. Right now, her body is balancing the power of my blood with her own essence. It’s like waking up from a long, dark sleep. She’ll need to rest, but when she wakes up, you’ll see the difference."

Tanjiro nodded, his grip on Nezuko tightening protectively. "Thank you, Alex-san. Truly. I... I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you for this."

"You don’t need to repay me," I replied with a faint smile. "Just take care of her. That’s all the thanks I need."

Yuki, who had been standing silently near the doorway, finally spoke. "Alex-sama, will the transformation be seamless? Is there a chance for... complications?"

I turned my gaze to Yuki, appreciating her concern. "The process should be smooth. My blood has already begun cleansing the demonic energy within her and restoring her humanity. But, as with any major change, there’s always a chance for unexpected outcomes. We’ll monitor her closely."

Yuki nodded, her worry evident in her expression, though she remained composed.

Minutes passed in relative silence, save for the faint sound of Nezuko’s breathing. Tanjiro stayed by her side, whispering soft reassurances that everything would be all right. Yuki and I exchanged occasional glances, silently agreeing to give the siblings their space.

Finally, I broke the silence. "Tanjiro, once Nezuko wakes up, she may feel disoriented. Her memories might be hazy, but they’ll return in time. Be patient with her."

"I will," Tanjiro said earnestly, his eyes glistening with unshed tears. "I’ll be here for her, no matter what."

I gave a small nod. "Good. You’re a good brother, Tanjiro. And Nezuko is lucky to have you."

As the room settled into a comfortable quiet, I stood, brushing the dust from my coat. "I’ll leave you two for now. She needs rest, and I’ve done my part. When she wakes, let me know how she’s feeling."

Tanjiro looked up at me, gratitude etched into every line of his face. "Thank you, Alex-san. I’ll never forget this."

With that, I turned and made my way to the door, Yuki following close behind. Before stepping out, I glanced back one last time, taking in the sight of Tanjiro cradling his sister, their bond as unbreakable as ever. It was a scene that reminded me of why I did this—not for recognition, but for moments like this. Moments of hope and family.

As Yuki and I stepped outside, the sun dipped low on the horizon, painting the sky in hues of orange and pink. Yuki walked beside me, her expression contemplative.

"Alex-sama," she began, her voice soft, "why did you go out of your way to help them? It’s not like you to get involved in such personal matters."

I chuckled lightly, shoving my hands into my pockets. "Sometimes, Yuki, it’s not about grand battles or proving strength. Sometimes, it’s about the little things—the moments that remind people why they fight, why they endure. And besides," I added with a smirk, "I was feeling generous."

Yuki smiled faintly, her usual calm demeanour softening. "You’re more compassionate than you let on, Alex-sama."

"Don’t spread that around," I teased. "I’ve got a reputation to uphold."

The moon hung high in the night sky, casting a silver glow over the surrounding forest as I leaned against the railing of the porch. The air was cool, a slight breeze rustling the leaves. Despite the serene atmosphere, my patience was wearing thin.

"Damn, where is she?" I muttered, drumming my fingers against the wooden beam. A smirk tugged at my lips as I let out a light chuckle. "She’s really giving me blue balls here."

Just as I was about to head back inside, I caught a soft rustling sound from the garden. My sharp senses immediately identified the source. Turning toward the noise, I saw Mitsuri stepping into view. Her pink and green hair shimmered under the moonlight, and her cheeks were flushed, likely from rushing to get here.

"Sorry, Alex-san!" she called out, her voice tinged with guilt. "I didn’t mean to keep you waiting!"

I straightened up, crossing my arms but offering her a teasing smile. "You sure took your time. I was starting to think you forgot about me."

Mitsuri stopped a few steps away, her expression a mix of embarrassment and nervous energy. "I didn’t forget! I just... got caught up helping the others. Shinobu needed my help with some patients, and—"

"Relax," I interrupted, holding up a hand. "I’m just teasing you. I know you’re not the type to break a promise."

Her shoulders relaxed, and she let out a relieved laugh. "You really know how to keep someone on edge, Alex-san."

"It’s part of my charm," I said with a wink, stepping aside to invite her to join me on the porch.

Mitsuri climbed the steps, her movements graceful despite her obvious nervousness. She sat down beside me, tucking her legs under her and looking up at the moon.

"It’s a beautiful night," she said softly, her voice carrying a note of wonder.

I followed her gaze, nodding. "It is. But I didn’t ask you to meet me just to admire the view."

Her cheeks turned a deeper shade of pink, and she glanced at me from the corner of her eye. "I figured as much... So, what did you want to talk about?"

"Oh, you silly goose, there is nothing to talk about; we are going straight for action."
